Topic: Bay area - Need recommendations for good immigration lawyers/firms .

All my immigration matters was handled by Jackson & Hertogs. This is a really good firm. My lawyers name is Grace Hoppin. She was one of the people in the PERM drafting comittee. I am not sure what their cost is since they were my corporate attorney, but they have many good lawyers. Another one is Norman Plotkin.

Topic: Please advise: Two I140 approvals: Two I485 applications???

Bonzer,
I received a CRIS email this morning that the 2nd AOS application has been denied. Did you receive any notice on the 2nd AOS yet? My lawyer had told me that USCIS will close/deny the pending case since the applicant has immigrated under a different option. Lets see what the letter says. Please let me know any developments from your side.

Thanks!

Topic: Do we need to renewal EAD even after getting GC...?

BTW, my EAD did get approved after GC approval and apparently the lawyers received the card yesterday:-)
what's your take on it? Is my GC invalid?
The fact is USCIS network sucks, probably the guy who approved my renewal did not even bother to check my immigration status!

Topic: EAD approved after 485 approval !!

This is unbelievable! I got my 485 approved on 08/06, and have had the cards in hand since 08/15/08. Today my EAD renewal got approved. How can they not look up your A# and figure out that you are already a Permanent Resident? That just tells you how well their networks are connected!

Topic: What to do with existing I-94 after GC approval?

We recently got our 485 approved. We are wondering what should we do with our existing I-94 cards that were issued to us on our last trip abroad (both H1 entry since we had H1B stamps on our passports). Do we need to surrender the cards next time we leave the country?

We got conflicting answers from our lawyers. My lawyer asked me to detach it from the passport, and not turn it in. My husband's attorney suggested surrendering it to the airline officials next time we go out. Can someone with practical experience let us know what to do?

Thanks!

Topic: Please advise: Two I140 approvals: Two I485 applications???

I am going to talk to my lawyer and see what she has to say. I will keep you posted. Let me know if you or USCIS takes any action on the pending cases.

Topic: Please advise: Two I140 approvals: Two I485 applications???

Bonzer,
I have a similar case as yours. My husband's EB1 application got approved recently (mine as derivative as well) but my previously filed I-485 EB2 application from my employer is still showing as "pending". We have received the paper copy of our approval notice, waiting for the cards now.

Btw, we only had one set of biometrics done when we filed the EB2 AOS last year (for all 10 fingers), that kind of tells me that they may have somehow consolidated both the applications. A couple of months before the 485 approval, we just got a notice for index fingerprinting (corresponding to the EB1 485 receipt number).

I was wondering if you wrote to USCIS to cancel the 2nd pending petition or if your lawyer advised you on any necessary action at this point? I would appreciate it if you would please post any new developments so I am aware of what to expect.

Thanks!

Topic: Has this happened to anyone?

raleigh,
I got the welcome notice in the mail today. Can you please confirm if the COA section for derivative adjustment (on I797) is E19? My husband who is primary has COA section E17.

Thanks!

Topic: Green card approved while out of country

You should have no problem re-entering if you have valid AP or valid visa stamped (H1 or L1). Some of the posts here are misleading - my lawyer (who is a top immigration lawyer and has worked at DC) clearly told me before i went on my last trip abroad that you can re-enter either on AP or H1/L1. I had both H1B as well as AP but was travelling on H1B.

There is no concept as visa gets voided - technically you have to be first admitted in a valid status and then your permanent resident status comes into effect.

G'luck.
