Topic: Timeline for passport receipt for dropbox

first of all, good luck to everyone. I went through the 221g ordeal last year, and understand how tiring the whole process is. following up about my question (for a friend), a few weeks ago: are things speeding up? my friend will be going to Chennai - are things getting better in Chennai?

Topic: Timeline for passport receipt for dropbox

Hey guys. First of all good luck to everyone waiting for their passports. Stay positive, and things will turn out well.
I was in a similar boat in May, when I went for a 2 week break, but I was able to get everything sorted out in a week, and travel back as planned (I got a 221 g, and had to go for an interview, but everything turned out well).

I am asking this question for a friend of mine: he works for a India based company (one of the WITCHes :-)), and is on his 3rd h1 extension (10 years with the same employer, client) - he's planning to go to India and use the drop box facility in Chennai - I know its hard to answer this question, but do you think he's going to be having any issues getting his visa stamped in 2 weeks using the dropbox facility? His situation is different compared to mine in the sense that I work as a full time employee for a US based tech company.

I am getting mixed signals from this forum about the current dropbox situation in Chennai. Please advise. If anyone has questions about the 221g I got, I am happy to answer them. Thanks in advance!

I think it should be okay. A friend of mine is planning to get his visa stamped next month, in Chennai (dropbox) - how about you?

Part 2 - final update:
3) Something weird with the status, status changed to ready for pick up on May 11, picked up passport on May 12 and saw that I got the 221g blue slip, with a bunch of documents checked and asking for me to go for an in-person interview
4) Consolidated all the docs, went for the interview on May 17
5) did finger printing and interview - officer checked for something very specific in one of the documents
6) approved my visa, I requested that the processing be expedited so that I can travel back as planned - the officer said that he can't guarantee that, but will try
7) passport status changed to ready for pick up on May 18
8) picked up passport at 3:50pm on May 18 - traveling back on May 21

Good luck, all.

All, typically, how long does the passport status remain as "Your passport has been picked up"?
Thanks.

For traditional IRA, yes.
Other options: Roth IRA or a backdoor Roth IRA.

As promised here is part one of my updates:
1) dropped off at the Dropbox location in Chennai at 10:30 am.
2) status changed to 'sent to post' and later on to 'picked up'

I must add that I had to retake my photos as they didn't accept the ones I took from CVS. Found a studio called "king's studio" pretty close to the place. I recommend not wasting your money taking photos on the US. Other than that everything was smooth. Fingers crossed.

I do not think its an individual choice either - unless you knowingly provide incorrect responses to the qualification questions.

Thanks ETLDeveloper.

Did you use the Dropbox facility in Chennai. I am concerned about potential delays because of the following:
1) new passport
2) I used the Dropbox facility in Chennai in Nov 2013, but has changed employers since then. I was planning to stamp my new visa in 2015,but could not do so due to the floods in Chennai. So basically paid the ds160 fees and never used it, and I reinterred using my old employer's stamped visa. Since then, my job profile changed and I have an amended H1 portion with my current employer.

So trying to find out if any of this can lead to delays. With regards I797, do they need the I129 forms for the old petitions as well?

Definitely. I am traveling later this week, and am planning to drop off my passport on Monday. Does someone actually verify all the documents st the Dropbox location?

I am planning to use the dropbox facility in Chennai.
If you don't mind, could you please respond to the following questions:
1) have you used dropbox facility before?
2) did you recently renew your passport?
3) where did you drop off your passport?

trying to see if there are any trends that I can pick up. worried because I am going on a short trip (2 weeks).

I am traveling to India and am planning to drop off my passport in Chennai. I recently renewed my passport as well. Has anyone been in the same situation (new passport, and used dropbox facility in Chennai)?

hi ske79, I am planning to use the dropbox facility in Chennai. I have done this once before in 2013. However since then, I changed employers and my employer did an H1 amendment for a role change.
what documents did you carry? also, I am reaching Chennai on Apr 8, and am planning to return on Apr 22 (Monday, early morning)? do you think that this is a workable timeframe?
good luck, all. I will update this forum with my experience once I get my stamping done.

That's how I understood the rule to be too.

Thanks.
LCAs can also specify the various levels in the title, right? Right Programmer Analyst level 1, Programmer Analyst level 2, etc. Is this memo related to level 1 jobs, or is it across the board?
