My husband is the primary applicant for PR. He is going to take the IELTS test to prove proficiency in English. Do I have to take the test too?

Topic: Police Clearance from Singapore

Hi, My spouse and I are Indian citizens, currently living in the USA. In the past we have also lived in Singapore for a duration exceeding 6 months, so we have to get a police clearance certificate from there too. Now, I have conflicting reports on how to obtain the PCC from Singapore. Can we write to the authorities in Singapore directly asking for a PCC or does the request have to go throught Canadian Immigration Office. Does anyone know anything about this?

Topic: Can I change my address after applying for PR?

After applying for PR, what if we move/change our address? Do we have to redo the whole process all over again? Is there a stage till which it is ok to change addresses and after which it's not ok till we get the PR?

Topic: Should I Use a Lawyer?

Hi,
We've decided to apply for Canadian PR under the Federal Skilled Workers category. I want to know if it is better to having it done via a Lawyer rather than doing it ourselves.
Based on your experiences, what do you all suggest? What problems has anybody encountered in doing it yourselves? And how did having a lawyer help? I know they help in confirming that we send the correct docs, correctly filled etc. but other than that, how do they help?

Topic: How to obtain university transcripts

Hi,
I need information on how to obtain transcripts from my college/university in India. Since I currently live in the US, do I need to go to India in person or can I ask someone else to get it and then mail it to me? Will the university need any documents before they hand over the transcripts?
I have also heard of some companies here that get your transcripts for you from your university and charge you for the services. Has anyone heard of or used such services?

Topic: Police Certification from every city or every country?

Thank you Kanika.
My next query is: Since I live abroad, should I get the police certification through my local Indian Consulate/Embassy or do I need to go to India to get it?
