Topic: Best cities to put down your roots

People talking about assimilation:

Reason 1- Parents visiting, they would prefer to have an Indian community.
Reason 2- Food- Bigger Indian community, more the choices.
Reason 3- Being brought up in India & then immigrated , its good to have people who have gone through the same experience.
Also i work with people from other backgrounds (100 + people -Just 3 Indians) , and we are good colleagues.

Others:
Dallas- How bad is the tornado issue there?
Atlanta- I like it from what i have heard

San Diego: What are your thoughts?
NJ: Not even looking at it..
Other California locations- Housing costs?
North Carolina: Do they have lot of job opportunities?

Topic: Best cities to put down your roots

Wanted to know what trackitters feel about the best cities to put your roots down.

Current status-
Wife & Husband both working, both have I 140 approved.
Husband working as full time employee (As client)
Wife working as contractor.
State - Missouri

The current issue
1) We don't have many ppl from Indian community in our current city
2) Would like to get away from Midwest climate

Criteria
1) Good climate (No snow)
2) Good Job opportunities (IT - Java dev)
3) Indian community
4) Good saving potential ( this is the only good part about my current city)
5) Affordable housing- Could buy a good house for less that 500 K ( 3Bed+)

Topic: Regarding Mastercard International Greencard policy

Not sure about Mastercard, but usually getting financial companies to do GC can be tricky. As you said some of my frnds had trouble with JPMC too.. The qn is how different is mastercard's policy from JPMC.

Not sure who created the petition, but can they edit it now? There are few grammatical errors and need to add some professional touch too.

Should we have a tracker, to keep track of the reps that we are calling?

We can keep track of number of calls and if positive or negative.

Grassley is sponsoring the bill. Qn is if it fails to pass will the 10 k visa flow back to other categories? Or will it also expire?

Not sure how many saw this. IV admin replied in one of the threads

"We realized that most folks have such real issues. And these issues with birth/marriage certificate or immunization records take some time to resolve. That is why we have tried to provide a heads-up so you dont miss the train when time comes."

now they have gone ahead and edited that to
"We realized that most folks have such real issues. And these issues with birth/marriage certificate or immunization records take some time to resolve. That is why we have tried to provide a heads-up so you can prepare and have your documents in order."

Is that a hint for PD becoming current for a limited time soon?

Hi Kumraj,

Did not see your response to the following question in other thread. So reposting

Taking your logic into consideration: 326k visas from EB will go to FB. (506k-180k) USCIS Code 1151 (d) (2) (C) also states that if FB bas unused visas it will go to EB. From your link http://www.dhs.gov/xlibrary/assets/cisomb_2010_... there are 241 928 unused FB Visas which should then switch over to EB.

@Kumraj:
Some flaws with the Eb dependents moving to FB logic:

1) Husband and wife both have I 140 approved and if backlogs get cleared, both gets GC. What would be the status of these kids?
2) From your logic it also means that unless, the EB applicant gets his\her green card, the dependents cant apply. (Since F2A is for kids & spouse of LPR and not for some one who is in the process of getting greened).

Though there is ambiguity in if the dependent should be counted to 140 k limit, there is no ambiguity in the fact that dependents can also apply with primary in EB quota.

I am interested to know from where you got this logic, coz it looks like i am hearing this only from you.

I also respect your views in this, but it would be great if you can quote your sources or say that this is your undertsanding of the law.

To IV ppl,

I have a strong feeling that IV activists and supporters frequent this forum, if they already have info on what to expect in EO( -ve or +ve for legals) , it would make sense to put that out in open.
Now before you question me on if i 've contributed to IV- I have not. Why? Because if i am to hire you as my lobbyist i would expect that you show some respect to your client and not bully them\ shut them down , when they ask some questions \ update on status.
I have seen lot of cases where your admins\ senior members have indulged in name calling, when people ask questions, a recent case was when a senior member ending up calling all EB 3 I as loosers and suckers.

Some Maths:

Currently 60 K visa goes to primary and 80 K visa to family (1.3 dependent visas for each primary)

Now if dependent count is removed then we have 140 visas going to primary and 182K (140*1.3) visas available for dependents.

If we only have the un-captured visas and no dependent count removal then

(220 recaptured Visas + 140 visas for an year) in total, So total visas for primary - 92k recaptured visas + 60 k yearly
152 k in total
Dependent visas - 205K

As per charlie - If dependent visa count is removed ie if 140 k visas are available for primary then all backlogs will be current and will remain so for some time

That will also imply that if only uncaptured visa's are made available the back log will be removed ( sine we will have more visas available)

But over a period the back logs will come back again since, after the visa capture is done, we will still have only 60 k visas for primary every year.

It looks like the provisions expected in EO for undocumented are pretty much clear.
We dont have any other option, than to wait for EO to be out, to see whats in it for us.

A good guess will be after Nov 8, coz 2 year from now Nov 8 2016, will be when the next presidential elections happen.
One of the points that i have been hearing is for EAD to illegals, if that is the case then they have to renew every two years.

In electoral politics, minority will always form a vote bank (in case of US, its Latinos) and that is what democrats will be aiming at.

Was reading about kunal bahl of snapdeal
Dont know why he was deported, it just says visa issues.

He was doing business with walmart in the US while studying, could that be a reason?

I think the fact is due to the visa issues, the US is indeed loosing some real good talent.

Question:
I remember Charles O in one of his conversation with AILA mentioning that, if the family is removed from count then the backlogs will disappear and will stay so for some time.
Some how i am not able to figure out the maths.
we have 60 K gc's going to employees in an year, so which leaves 80 k (140-60) to family.
Before retrogression EB2 India was in 2009 so a backlog of 5 years. China is in 2010 Backlog of 4 years.
Eb3 I is in 2003 - backlog of 11 years.

So does this mean that Eb3 backlog count and Eb2 backlog count is less than 80 k?

Also from where does the "unused visa count " factor come into play? My assumption was that USCIS gives out 140 k GC's every year (Coz for ROW EB2 is current and india and china gets the spill over).
I am aware that 140 k is the max limit and USCIS can eve give 0 GC's for an year if it so desires. But still do we have so much of unused visa's to help clear the back log?

Interesting part:
India and the US will deliberate on a host of issues, including visa restrictions, movement of professionals and greater market access, during the forthcoming visit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to America.

Commerce and Industry Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said: “Totalisation issue, visa issue and mode—IV labour movement issue. There are several such issues which will be taken up before the visit and some of them during the visit.”

Sorry i missed this part

Representatives from Oracle, Cisco, Fwd.US, Microsoft, Accenture, Compete America and the U.S. Chamber of Commerce were among those present at a wide-ranging Aug. 1 session that went through a list of asks for the tech sector that would involve rulemaking. Executive orders were not specifically discussed in that meeting, according to one source familiar with the session.
