Initial Assessment??
The Initial Assessment letter is basically sent sometime after they send you the AOR letter. The AOR letter says that the consulate has received your request and will process it in the order in which it was received. The Initial Assessment letter comes later and tells you if they need any other paperwork. In some situations when the visa takes a long time they may send you another request for documents later, Quebec did this when I was applying through QC but at the federal level once I started the visa process for the family class they only asked once. I hope that this helps.

Landing
Ok, so I will be doing this by car as well. Is there any problem if I drive back and forth while I wait for my PR card? I live in Syracuse NY and will make a few trips in my car to bring all of my items to Canada and I will probably work for a couple wks in Syracuse while I look for a job. Any tips would be helpful.

Landing
Hello,
Can someone tell me what is entailed in the landing process? How long does it take? What do they ask?
Thanks,

Document Request
Correct me if I am wrong but when the visa office requests more supporting documents (such as more papers to verify the validity of a relationship) that means that they have conducted the initial review, right? How much longer after sending those documents to the office does it take to receive a further reply?

Hey, I have a blog that outlines my immigration process and I was wondering if anyone else has seen anything similar. Mine can be found at rcattig.blogspot.com. Feel free to visit and leave comments or whatever. It also has alot to do with my regular life.

Change CSQ interview in NY to Montreal?
About the first part I cannot help you, I am under the understanding that they do not interview people in Montreal but maybe if you explain your situation to someone, who knows. Responding to the second part, however, is not difficult at all. I had my QC interview about a month ago. They basically just review your file and ask you questions like why you want to live in Quebec and how you plan to support yourself. I had alot of points riding on my ability to speak French and so it was conducted completely in French. If you can do your interview in French then you should, that is a large part of the interview, they want to make sure that if you say that you can speak French on your application that you really can. There are no written tests, or at least there weren't for me.

about the processing of the permanent residence in Canada (landed immigrant)
I believe that if you don't send it within a certain time period that your application will be dropped as well as the fees that you paid will be lost. Maybe you should ask them this question when / if they require an interview.

Is not working ?
CIC has redone their website in recent days so the old links that you have may not work anymore. Kinda a pain but the new site is well worth it.

Support
I know that I am increasingly frustrated by the whole immigration issue. I was wondering if anyone else has had moments when being seperated from your partner has depressed you. What did you do at that time? I know that it is hard for all of us and perhaps that is why we can all be of help to one another. Part of the difficult part is knowing that there is nothing that I can do to speed up the process at this point.
Anyways, any suggestions as to how to cope in the mean time would be appreciated.

Protocol of the Family Class
Hello, Can you guys let me know what the protocol of getting the family class visa is? I have lots of questions so if you can answer any of the following it would be very helpful.
What happens after submitting the application to Mississauga?
What is established in Mississauga?
Is the validity of the relationship established in Mississauga or is that part of the potential interview?
Do we get a letter when the application is transfered from Mississauga to the visa office? (in my case Buffalo)
Do I (the sponsored) get a letter from them or does all correspondence go to my sponsor?
Will my partner have to come to the visa office in Buffalo (where my application will be processed) or does he do his interview seperately in Canada somewhere? Do we both get interviewed or just one of us? which one?
What type of things do they ask at the interview? (spouse category)
Is the visa issued at the interview?
Do they request the passport to be sent by mail or can I present it in person and collect my visa at that point?
I know that this seems like there are alot of questions but all of this seems so hidden and secretive. I mean all the CIC website says is what you need to do to fill out the application and then the estimated wait times so any additional help would be well appreciated.
Thanks,
REMY
