Topic: Tier-1 Dependent Application

Hi,

I've been in the UK for the past 2 months and have recently got a job. I'll be getting married in Feb next year and my spouse will be accompanying me to the UK. I'll be applying for her Visa in December (after legally marrying in court first) as I'll be visiting India during that time.

Can anyone let me know how much funds do I need to maintain to sponsor my spouse? I read in the dependent guidance on the BIA website (http://www.ukba.homeoffice.gov.uk/sitecontent/applicationforms/pbs/tier1dependantsguidance.pdf), it said that if the main applicant has been in the UK for less then 12 months then he needs to show maintainance funds of 800 GBP for himself and 1600 GBP for any dependents. This means that I need to show 2400 GBP.

Is this assumption correct or do I again need to show 2800 GBP + 1600 GBP in total?

Please advise.

Regards,
rgirhotra

Topic: Can you do study whilst on a Tier 1 General (HSMP) visa?

Is it possible to study part-time (along with full time work) on HSMP visa? I was planning to do part-time MS along with my work.

Topic: In India - HSMP approval Letter Received-move to Tier 1 for 3 yrs-apply after 1st April 08 or march

Hi skhsmp,

So does this mean that people who have received HSMP approval before April 1 have a choice i.e. they can either apply for EC under the current rules or move to Tier 1 and apply for EC under the new rules?

Also under the new rules, can any other form of funds be considered as maintenance funds. for e.g. PPF account, Insurance policy or Mutual Funds.

Topic: Reg. Tire 1 (general) Highly skilled Workers

Hi Sid,

Suppose I get the HSMP approval before April 1 and I apply for EC only after April 1 under the Tier 1 HSMP rules, then what is the duration of the visa that will be issued? Is it going to be for 2 years or (as per the Tier1 guidelines) for 3 years?

Regards,
RG
