Topic: Stop the frenzy please- Give them a brake!
In a retrospective analysis, I agree with you, in fact this is one of the very few disadvantages that online communities like trackitt and others have: the contribution to a mass hysteria about what's going to happen in the next Visa Bulletin, the never ending speculation about the meaning of LUDs and the collective paranoia about what are the implications of a RFE.
Now these issues are not 100% ownership of trackitt, far from it, they are a defect that trackitt inherits because the process that it tracks, the legal US immigration process either employment or family based, is absolutely complex, exasperating and nerve wrecking.
I confess that I became addicted to this hysteria, speculation and paranoia while I was tracking my case, and now after some reflection and looking back I can see what things were really important and what others were just a waste of valuable time.
Among the important things that I found were people sharing their experiences and what to do in particular cases. |
Topic: A quick thank you and words of encouragement
Congratulations on your card and that your wait is over!
People illegally working in this country are not getting green cards anymore and judging by the 2 failed immigrations bills they won't get anything in the future. Some of them did, but 20 years ago! in 1987, not anymore, so I don't see the evidence that illegal are getting any immigration benefits.
On the contrary they are being exploited by small and medium companies so they can have fat profits, paying them below the minimum salary and with no health benefits under constant threat that they will be deported if don't work as hard as they are asked.
It's a failure of the government to not have an orderly immigration process for these people and small companies, all this inaction just benefits this abusive system. |
Topic: Is the interview a mandatory step before getting your I-485 approved?
Well, I thought that I already researched this question all over the place before posting it here, but I found a similar thread under the AOS forum.
So in summary, it seems that it's a random process but if you have had a DUI you'll get an interview.
Also, I found a case here where he had a DUI and he got the GC anyways after the interview, so not everyhting is lost eh?!, but don't drink and drive in this country while your are waiting for a GC or not, it's a very bad business, a friend of mine paid tons of money to go through the whole ordeal and he got his driver's license suspended on top of that. :- |

Do I have to have an interview with an immigration officer before getting my GC approved?
or Can they approve a GC just by examining the documentation that I already provided when my application was filed and the results of my name background check and fingerprint results?
What usually trigers (if you know or have an idea) an interview? |
