AOS Interview:  Cleared   (4 comments
User: rumchan Labor Filing Date: 28 Jul 2006
I-485 Received Date: 29 Jan 2007 Transferred to NBC: 05 Nov 2007
Interview Notice Issued: 26 Nov 2007 Interview Notice Received: 01 Dec 2007
Interview Date: 15 Jan 2008 Interview Location: New York City, NY
Interview Status: cleared Nationality: Japan
Interview Experience: The reason for pending is due to the failure of taking finger print as expected. I went to the police station after the interview on the same day and applied for a Good Conduct Certificate. It will be given to me on Jan 29. My attorney will bring it to USCIS on Feb 8. He said it will take probably another 2 months to complete the whole GC process.

Topic: Transfer to National Benefits Center?

Interview update @Manhattan, NY. Questions: my name, mother/father's name, whether i am working or not, my address, whether i have ever been arrested or not. Asked to show my current passport, letter from my employer and birth certificate. The interviewer told me that my case is pending because my finger print was not properly recognized (too dim/unclear). She told me to go to the police station to get a "Certificate of good conduct". I went to the police station after the interview. Finger print was taken there and I will get the certificate in 2 weeks. My attorney will take it to the immigration officer on Feb 9; we made this arrangement when we were in the interview place although we did not know when the certificate would be ready. My attorney told me that it would take another 2 months to complete the whole GC process. Tired of waiting any further but I hope everything will be done soon.

Topic: Transfer to National Benefits Center?

Just an update. Today, i received an interview request mail form USCIS. Notice date is Nov 26. Priority date is Jan 2007. The interview date and location are Jan 15 and New York City. The info is almost same as what i heard in this forum. Nothing special. They requested me to bring a birth certificate. I sent one when I filed I485. Do I have to get a new one from my country again? Why not copy...

My case is employment base, no arrest record, no illegal stay etc. My guess on why they call me is finger print.. They took my finger print two times but they did not update my case status after the secound FP taking (Apr) until the case transfer notice (Nov). Also, I had the finger-print-taking problem several times before in many places. Last time, when i entered the US from an airport, the immigration officer even took me to another room for an interview because he did not succeed in taking my finger print after several times of his try (mine is usually very dim). Let's see...

Topic: Transfer to National Benefits Center?

Thank you, jd. I live in Manhattan, New York. So the location should be Newark, NJ (?), if there is no office in New York. I have never seen "New York" as an interview location in this forum... Anyway I hope everything goes well. Good luck!

Thanks for your post, jd. I have a couple of questions.

(1) Where is your interview location?
(2) Haven't you received the interview date notice yourself but only your lawyer have? (Usually in mycase, both my lawyer and myself do get these notices)

My transfer date is same as yours but i have not heard anything yet (sigh)

Anyway I am happy for you to hear this progress. Good luck!
