Topic: approval on Sep.9th but did not get it

my lawyer said, he received 2 copies for each applicant and that is what all we are going to get. not 3 copies. from greengears, I understand that the first time we apply we get 3 copies. but my lawyer refuses this!

for another issue on this topic, if you all applied at the same time and do not receive receipts or notices together, you could call the CS and report this problem. you have an option in the menu, when you call uscis.

thanks Greengears. I understand it. may i know how many copies you received for each applicant. i will appreciate your answer. from this I might conclude, whether I still have to expect a copy for me or not. thanks.

Topic: approval on Sep.9th but did not get it

ok, i want to make sure one thing that i am unclear. if we apply through attorney, do we get the approval notices for AP only to him or, do we (applicant) also get a copy for ourselves?? my attorney got 2 originals for myself and my son. but I did not get anything. he only mailed it to us.

Topic: approval on Sep.9th but did not get it

we have the same problem. both my son's and my AP was approved on sep.12th and they (uscis) said, they mailed on 15th. but we have not received the notices yet. is this normal?

my attorney got his 2 originals for each applicant. how many originals usually the uscis sends in total? any response appreciated.

Topic: Why is FP required for EAD card?

I had this same question. The FP notices of my wife and mine, did not have R# of 765, and had only R# of 485. When I went for the FP test at the local ASC, they were also surprised and said, I may receive an other notice. But actually I received the card and it states that FP not available. BUT, look... my 4 year old son's notice had both Receipt numbers, (485 and 765) and his card has his FP on it! All the applications were paper-filed by my attorney. I am clear atleast that EADs filed on paper do not need FPs. Thanks guys.

Topic: Travelling on H1 while AP is pending

I have read quite a few articles about this and have personal conversation with a friend of mine who already obtained his GC. you are right that if some one has a valid H1 either stamped on the passport or going to get stamped before returning back, do NOT need to apply for AP. BUT..., if that person has already applied for AP (as part of the GC process) and if that AP is pending, he/she will abandon 485, if he/she travels. If that person already HAS a valid visa STAMPED before he travels, then he/she would not abandon the 485, though the AP is pending! good to travel. this is what I have understood. you could double check.

Topic: Travelling on H1 while AP is pending

Palguy, I agree with what you said. EAD may not be a sufficient document to travel. That is why i was surprised when kishor said. on your point 2, you said, if your AP is not approved before you leave the country, you could reenter with a H1 visa stamped from the consulate. BUT that would mean, you have abandoned the AP and or 485. So, it is not recommended to travel, while AP is pending. may be you could travel, without abandoning 485/AP) if you have an other (previous) earlier approved valid AP!, BUT I dont know about that.

Topic: Travelling on H1 while AP is pending

great to know krish...e. thanks for shedding some light. in fact, my fresh AP is still pending (first time), but meantime i received my EAD and have not used it. it is valid for 2 years. so, do you think I could travel out of country using EAD and if yes, within what time frame should i return back? and at the port of entry what am I going to show them!? infact I have a plan of going for a H1 stamping in India after arriving and come back using H1. would this work?
