Topic: EAD for H4 Visa Holders

Come on my fellow Indian friend, if poking fun at me makes you happy, so be it, at-least I am not giving you any tears, what is data, I have worked long enough in IT industry in US, I pointed to data from someone who says he researched this topic well enough and you accused me of identity stealing since I didn't toed your line, that is wrong, go and tell these stories to gullible Americans and not me, I have taken perfect care of myself in this so called onslaught in IT market from "whom" you know, I will continue to take care of myself and where needed very ferociously, and I don't have hallucinations either.

Finally I suggest to all of you, once this rule passes, I hope with some conditions imposed on it, don't get me wrong, I am all for it then lets all do a "Lungi dance" , all you Thaliavas lets get going, rock and roll and party time, cost on me, I can pay 50% , rest you guys contribute since all of you must be making 100k each year working with desi consulting companies,we can book a place in tri-state area to celebrate.

But I am amazed not even one Indian thought that there should be some checks in this rule to stop onslaught and stealing of jobs from locals, not in one, so united are all of you on this common interest and anybody who says anything, you just bully, insult and even if it was in your hands will kill that person, come on guys this is not good. Accusing others of anything is bad habit.

See people who are arguing and are so sure that this rule of EAD for H4 will pass as it is are totally wrong, wait and watch, I am all for it but you will see some checks and balances in final rule, insulting me won't help here but lets see what happens at end of all this exercise.

My friends tomorrow I am going to see X-men days of future past and trask wording, "there is a new enemy out there and we need new kind of weapons to defeat them in this war", I urge you to go and watch X-men, you all will like wolverine and that way will take break.

I have ordered Indian samosas, tea, sandwiches and donuts for tomorrow breakfast, I hope it will be fun to discuss pros and cons of this rule.

My friend if you are so honest, give me exact data, how many Americans have you seen in IT work force, lets segregate IT workforce share in USA from total pie of labor work force, then tell me how many white people, black people or Mexicans or Women have you seen in IT workforce in USA (even exclude jobs shipped to India lets stick to point), please leave Indians (whether citizens, H1Bs, Permanent residents or EADs out of it), just give me this data. It will help me in my meetings and my train of thought is simple, I want to help my country men and women by doing good for them. Also tell me have you even seen anybody outside Andhra, Tamil Nadu and Maharashtra in IT work force Industry of USA, just give me some data from your experience.

Correction, I am a leader, VP rank is more of a leadership rank, please don't compare me with Vendor PM who just keep scolding there resources whenever I see, anyway you can't attribute every negativity around this rule on me, that is not a good thing for you to do, I am also communicating just like you guys are, so don't be so angry at me without any reason, anyway need to rush to back to back meetings now, so will check later on the progress. Catch with you guys and I need to prepare for breakfast meeting for tomorrow, will update you about discussions in the evening and to those who are saying where was I when this group to meet DC officials, well I have taken an appointment with my Congressman and will go and lobby for this rule to pass, will take 2-3 other accomplished friends of mine. So I am doing my job guys.

My friend please put your arguments on US government site, for your information let me tell give you below data, Indians get angry, emotional and frustrated easily and then they hurl abuses on who doesn't toe their line, that is why Indians managers are worse and it is said they don't know how to manage. Anyway I apologize to you and lets us all work together in a smooth way without hurting each other.

A new study by the Center for Immigration Studies shows that there is not a STEM worker shortage. Indeed, there are twice as many workers with STEM degrees than exist STEM jobs. Using employment and wage data, the study found that:

•Using the most common definition of STEM jobs, total STEM employment in 2012 was 5.3 million workers (immigrant and native), but there are 12.1 million STEM degree holders (immigrant and native).

•Only one-third of native-born Americans with an undergraduate STEM degree holding a job actually work in a STEM occupation.

•There are more than five million native-born Americans with STEM undergraduate degrees working in non-STEM occupations: 1.5 million with engineering degrees, half a million with technology degrees, 400,000 with math degrees, and 2.6 million with science degrees.

•An additional 1.2 million natives with STEM degrees are not working unemployed or out of the labor force in 2012.

•Despite the economic downturn, Census Bureau data show that, between 2007 and 2012, about 700,000 new immigrants who have STEM degrees were allowed to settle in the country, yet at the same time, total STEM employment grew by only about 500,000.

•Of these new immigrants with STEM degrees, only a little more than a third took a STEM job and about the same share took a non-STEM job. The rest were not working in 2012.

So back, little busy day for me but I miss this forum and like it, well problem in production environment because of TCS folks so little bit of management play, well Krishna, the only thing I can say is, see anybody can talk good things and leaving aside bullying by some of the members on this forum who want everything to just be either their way or highway, I can say, it is good to talk about Indian unity, may be Sharma had really bad experiences with some Andhra people or Tamil Nadu people, my advice to you is, be fair wherever you can be to others and same thing I can request to other fellow Indians, all this practical talk is fine but don't go out of way to make life of anybody difficult by promoting regionalism, technical excuses or insults can't ever compensate for human issues. As a VP of a large company in Tri-state area I try to be fair to best possible extent, even sometimes I have let gone wrong words of Andhra as well as Bihar people, thinking the person is youngster let me not make it a personal issue. It is not that I haven't fired people but one can always do things with little compassion within limits, I see sometimes people going out of way to make life of other person difficult, this forum may be not be good place to state things, but I remember a colleague's son on H1B spoke to me about marrying an Indian US citizen for getting Green card, the girl was from Andhra and the guy from Rajasthan, long story short, the girl tricked guy very badly including taking advantage of him without his consent and boy had cleanliness issues and really took it to heart, we never know how vulnerable other person is, so in-spite of our professional compulsions we can act with bit humane touch, that is why I always make it a point to take people for lunch and give good reference for them whether H1B or otherwise, but I have people getting very regional and tricky and more so among Indians.

Coming back to passage of H4 rule, seems it is gaining good momentum so soon it should get passed, on coming Friday I have organized a breakfast seminar in my company and have invited almost 70 people, I plan to write main points in favor of rule and main apprehensions against it and paste at back of board, so that all voices can be heard and I am spending $250 from my pocket to get good breakfast for all (will put in budget expenses later), so trying little bit from my end also to do something good for coming generations but I am against this aspect or practice, if Indians just willfully leave white people, Americans or other Indians and do something out of way to make their life difficult. Anyway watch X-men days of future past, I liked the comment by fellow American "there is a new enemy out there and we need a new kind of weapons to win war against them", I want to check what sentinels do and how it was tied to this context.

You guys won't let me go either (Just watch Joker comment in Batman: The dark knight), my friend TCS is taking care of infrastructure in my company, Cognizant is doing application development, BA is going to meet business users and vendor PM uses politics to control his BA/testers and all I do is attend calls to control and relay weekly progress (to keep my job) so except newspapers, scientific journals, what else is there, in senior management talks I need to squeeze vendor rates which I am good at, then I don't make anybody unhappy or angry, whenever H1Bs are laid off, I take them for lunch telling they can give my reference and they will get job, do you guys experience such manager ever who is so humane. I don't scold either of 50 plus people I am dealing with still all work is going good.

Now coming to reincarnation, I am not anybody else but myself, today only an American colleague of mine was talking about this rule with me and he was angry, his analogy was (watch new movie X-men days of future past to understand this), "there is new enemy out there and we need new type of weapons (in X-men context they are called sentinels) to tackle them". I was laughing hearing this and offered him also a cup of coffee to soothe down his emotions.

My Indians friends at-least laugh once in a while with all this stress around us (now Modi is in chair so don't worry even back home things will change and this rule will also pass, say thanks to big American businesses), why to always use insults and unruliness in everything. Just chill and continue with discussion, I will join you guys after 2-3 days since have to critique a new project plan as drafted and submitted by Virtusa team. You know all these outsourcing companies near and dear to me, catch you later guys.

My friend, I am 100% supporter of this rule and if you don't like me I won't comment, I express my apologies to you and will again read this forum in my free time but I would have loved to be a participant but since you don't like me, I won't do it to respect your feelings, in either case it hardly matters to me if this rules passes or not, I was just sharing my viewpoints with few others users as I have moderate feelings for this cause, I support it but I am not mad about it either to bully everybody who comes with his/her opinion.

With my patents and technology commercialization of them, at-least 215 American jobs have been created, now 89 of those have been moved to Shanghai and this year 78 are going to Bangalore, so my friend you will still take few more years to catch up with me or perhaps you can't (with due respect to your emotions and stature) and yes now I travel a lot between US, China and India so I am above this rat race at-least in this birth, I have given my due with my hard work and education and now reaping benefits, I work with 2 NGOS, one is Indian and one is American.

Yes I hear to others and don't delve into extreme hate with anybody that is why in 360 degree feedback in my group Indians, Americans, Chinese, Russians and Bulgarians have given good ratings about my leadership. I like people to express themselves instead of bullying them by using sophisticated means since with such tactics frustrations get built in other person and they become determined and develop personal passion for cause which I try to avoid in my management style.

This person gives story in a different way, no bullying or insults please as putting this link considering data this guy is giving as part of his statistical studies, is situation really this bad for Americans ? The guy is giving companies data (look at attachment), that is huge and passionate effort.

Check this link, seems an aggregation of every point anybody can think of on this topic, good thing is America is really a land of freedom and free speech (first amendment) so this guy comment was also given due consideration and is published, that is good thing to hear extremes on both sides. May be this law needs to have some safeguards but then legal immigration itself requires overhaul

I am caring because I want this rule to pass, at the same time I care about genuine apprehensions of Americans, they are also broke and Indians prefer to hire Indians so a reverse discrimination in America is going on, see what is pattern, that is also generalization, and we all look at patterns, in my team now as a senior management person I always look at patterns and in my opinions generalizations are also understanding patterns and then applying judgement to out-liners.

In a way you are right, may be marriage market rates will go up in India and we all know where US grooms or brides are most respected in India and given heavy dowry, just trying to stay politically correct but my dear friend there is no way any of us can do anything, see we all Indians will want flood gates to open, I have seen this market for long enough to know what is going on still I always try to keep balance and express sympathies with Americans as well, I was at middle level in Intel and then this Indian came he removed all Americans in group and they were handed severance packages, I spoke to this middle aged lady who was thinking of using her severance package to build product company and she took mortgage against home and lost all of her money, she asked me to validate her scientist who was an Indian, I looked at the guy who was busy eating lunch without bothering that money is at stake, it took lady to realize that her hiring choice is wrong but by then she had lost home, she said sorry to me but my response was I told you in starting itself, for innovation don't bank on this guy, he is indifferent about your situation. So Indians don't care (generalizations are fine since we all rely on studying patterns, this line is for bullies on this forum), the kind of bullying I am seeing by some people on this forum is amazing, we all know rule will be passed and it has nothing to do with skills of H1B, it is related to fact that American politicians are not looking for Americans first, anyway rule will get passed and it will be taken advantage by many H4 in positive as well as negative way. So chill and try to make as much money as possible since coming times will be even tougher

Don't lie, I have worked on H1B for years in USA before getting GC but not even at single place my degrees were asked, scanned or looked at, there is no way any H1B degrees are looked at (one of the reasons why fake degree people are flourishing in this market), yes campus placements are different thing. Rule should be passed but don't lie with whatever you think is right. Bullying everybody is always not a best way to get things done.

See what you are saying makes sense to some extent but let me say without hurting your emotions that this rule will pass, reason is big businesses want cheap labor pool , we all can do arguments that H1Bs are not cheap but I have seen places in USA where Indian companies like Cognizant or TCS have whole colonies set up of cheap H1B workers, salaries range around $53000-60,000 per annum only, I have seen H1Bs LCA getting approved at $38k even, these people work till late night and start early morning (offshore calls), so work life balance is getting spoiled with this attitude and boot licking of managers, Indians will call some of these things as survival of fittest but ultimately we will build the same atmosphere in USA from which we all ran away in India (may be Modi can reshape India who knows), same bad things, boot-licking, nepotism, lies etc etc.

No matter what Americans write or try, this rule will pass, US politicians know what is going on in real world, it is just that they also can't do anything about it, business lobby is very powerful, may be more Americans will come on welfare but this has been going on for a while, Capitalism and corporate greed has taken over everything and with passage of this rule Americans have to compete for jobs at Mcdonalds, Starbucks, walmart etc. If US government really wanted to control all this mess, they just need to do two things, just make third party placement illegal (this will cut down on abuse of desi consulting companies who are biggest culprits in H1B abuse) and make it mandatory for US employers to maintain real diversity in hiring (look at Canadian market, why H1Bs/Indians haven't taken over), employers need to report statistics to authority on quarterly basis and they should be heavy penalized, for those who say American employer will move away to other markets , No they can't, take example of Credit suisse today, it has been fined 2.8 billion but it will continue to serve largest economy of world, Bill gates can pack up from USA if he wishes that but government can enforce that Microsoft can't sell anything in USA in such a case, bottom line, my friend, all this rhetoric of skill unavailability etc is a lie, main thing is businesses want this so they are getting this rule passed, I think it should be all set by this year end, so cheers and I personally welcome dissent as well, so I have sympathy with what you wrote. Men on top have power to steer even a big ship, look back at India, I am pretty hopeful that with Modi in chair, India may also become Singapore in next 10-15 yrs who knows.

Rule will get passed because big businesses are backing it and in America it is all about money, so no doubt it will get passed but then there is no need to insult Americans since a lot of what they are saying is also true, there is no dearth of skilled resources in America, it is all about corporate greed, I have myself seen many Americans with high end technical skills being laid off and those jobs going to H1Bs of Cognizant, so rule will get passed but no need to provoke someone who is already down and frustrated. There are lobbyists backing this rule for big US businesses and then there are paid scholars like wadhwa who always rattles about benefits of outsourcing, tomorrow when we become US citizens our future generation will also feel the same heat , so when other person is loosing at-least we should have little respect towards them, in this case Americans. EAD will even compete for Walmart jobs as all of them can't get IT jobs, lot of them will open desi consulting companies to hire more Indians on H1B so both sides have some truth in there stories.

For example see this link

Now listen carefully to me a******.. dont just bark around in the corner like a rabies stricken stray dog about your pathetic views about politics and jobs. If your insecure about your skills and abilities thats your f****** problem not Indians or any other politicians.. Well you want me to provoke you well then hear this, we are gonna take all your jobs away.. we gonna make sure that you dont even have money to buy s*** and eat, we gonna take evrything thatwas yours.. we gonna drape the Statue of Liberty with a saree (you dont know wahta saree iis, well its a dress which Indian women wear).. now get your f****** stinking face out of here A******!!!!!

Now such wording and insult should be avoided, this is like bullying a person who wants to protect inflow of immigrants and is loosing his or her job and nothing wrong in such a sentiment, we all would have done same if we were in India.

Why are you trying to control discussion, you don't own this forum and internet is public space for open debate, don't make people irritate or get frustrated by your words, you can't pass this H4-EAD law by bulling,
look at below link

http://www.fool.com/investing/general/2014/05/1...

look at what this Indian writes

"Americans who continue to think they should be hired based on their nationality instead of their qualifications will continue to struggle to find jobs. The fact is these companies are hiring now, but you don't have the qualifications, or you are demanding above market value, to work there. Companies aren't ignoring American workers out of spite. Its just American workers refuse to keep up with the rest of the world when it comes to education and training. "

Is it wise to write these things and make already helpless Americans more irritated, what you all want that Americans come on streets to fight us, what skills this stupid person is talking about, everything has been invented mostly by US people, don't give me crap of "Zero" for now. Poor Americans can't ask others to give phone interviews and then we all know who gives interview and who shows up, we all know how H1B resumes are written. Then primarily people working on H1Bs are mostly from which "C" graded universities in India we all know, Americans are just too sober to understand these things, tell in Indian marriage market that I have degree from so and so university see what is the reaction, say thanks to US companies who are not eager to find out what is the level of education of person and basically education is neutralized in H1B market.

Bottom-line is if you want this law to pass, don't bully people, let them share there opinions and concerns and let debate go on, bills and laws can't be passed under radar as suggested here on this forum and stop insulting Americans in every comment, if someone has to struggle for food they will retaliate and all of them are not dumb either.
