Topic: Passport Renewal

Hi,

Is this same day service with the expedited fee?

I am preparing my papers for the Chicago Consulate and would consider taking a day off to drive up and get the passport renewed same day.

Anyone with chicago's indian consulate experience? I plan to call the consulate itself as well.

Thanks

Topic: Indian citizen on H-1b in US ... for canadian PR

I wanted to start this thread for the specifics of such cases ... and am sure there are many of them.

First up .. getting birth certificate & police clearance from india.
Can the former be obtained from the Indian consulates here (Chicago, DC) ? Or, issues / FAQs in getting it from india?
Next, any FAQs / help on dealing with the Indian consulate in Chicago?

... keep adding ... help & queries :)

Topic: US H-1b to canadian PR; spouse already PR

That is not the case with us, as my spouse is not working, & staying with me in US. We cannot prove me to be my spouse's dependent.

BTW, are canadian immigration helpful in such cases .... as you say 'call them and ask'?

Topic: US H-1b to canadian PR; spouse already PR

Hello folks,

I am looking to apply for a canadian PR being in US on the H-1b. My spouse is already a canadian PR, but I am preparing my own application as a federal skilled worker. My spouse is currently visiting me in US

My query is, does my spouse have to fill "Background/Declaration", "Additional Family Information", etc. forms all over again? Do we need to provide her 'work experience' as well ... its part-time work in Tim Hortons and call-center?

Thanks much.

Topic: USA to Canada

hi all .. a newbie to this forum .. but same boat
H1-b, 3yrs work-ex, thinking of PR, GC, pros cons .....

first up .. I think it seems reasonable to get started with PR app; GC seems far-fetched as current employer might not go for it, and self applying for GC is all the more hassle .. let alone time ...

should be a nice n interesting journey in this forum :P .. as things move along ....

first up ... i have all these PR app forms printed ... to go to buffalo, need that foto clicked, clearance done, etc.
-- i dont need to send the passport just yet?
-- my passport expires july 2008, any possible issues with that ?

thanks ...

Topic: How long it takes after medical for ppr at buffalo office

Hi All
I have a update for you.
Yesterday, I received a letter from the consulate asking me to send my passports for Permanent Visa Stamping.
They mentioned that it is time sensitive and that the passports should be send to them before March 30th, 2008 or else I will have to start the process all over again. The letter was dated December 11th, 2007.
This week has been one with mixed emotions and reactions for me. First, the retrogression of the EB2 dates to 2000 made me loose hope and then this approval comes through. So, I guess that there is light at the end of the tunnel.
Good luck to you all as well.

Congrats man ... its always glass half full !
Anyways ... It seems I am going on the same journey as you ... US H-1b ... 2yr exp ... going for PR .. and GC as well maybe !
hopefully I can eat your brains on some of the things !

the PR application says, send this n that n passport and original certificates and police clearance ... and all this stuff ...
but i see people here sending just the app forms with supporting docs and fee ... and waiting for 'request' to send other stuff !
How does it actually work ? could you please elaborate pertaining to your case or specifics... thanks ..
