he only has to show copies of your passport, H1B (visa stamp/notice), marriage certificate, and your pay subs. DON'T show/tell you have a pending 485, he may be denied for visa. Will be helpful to bring some photos, bank statements..etc, but those are not required to show most of the time. |

so.....what's your friend's problem? If he was born in US, he should have obtain his US passport. And if he was in non-immigrant status, he will have to show his visa + I-94. He should not be stuck in between like others who stuck in 485 on this forum who can only use EAD to renew DL yearly.
I live in CA and I received a request to update my visa info 3 months before my DL expire, after I submit my documents, I receive my new DL in mail without any visit or phone call to the office. Although it took almost a year to get my initial DL 4 years ago, I don't have any problems with that at all coz they kept renew my temporary DL (just a piece of paper) every few months.

you can work and study on AOS status. I don't see any reasons for going to F1 status. And COS from AOS to F1 will highly be denied because F1 required non immigration intend. |
