Topic: NBC interview
NBC is fine which is National Benefits Center.
To answer to OP's original question, don't worry about it. These are routine interviews. Take all the paperwork (I-20, I-797 etc.) to show your continued presence for all the time you have been in US. Also there's a whole list of documents to take with you on the interview notice. Start collecting them and keep your cool-if you have had legal presence throughout and no brush with law, you'll be fine. Also, you are allowed to take a lawyer with you to these interviews. |
Topic: Question transit visa
Its not the airline that requires transit visa but the country (airport) through which you are transiting. Use this info as you book your flight. |
Topic: over one month no card arrived after approval. Called today and got a reply!
Good thing is that you are approved-so in case you need to travel for emergency, you can get I-551 stamped.
The fingerprint is imprinted on the GC, so I'll trust IO on "finger printing upload" issue. He/she very likely completed all the info needed to get the card "printed". Stay tuned-you should receive it sooner than later. |
Topic: i-94 question
crazee also raises an interesting observation of crossing border by road-somehow I have seen (reading through forums here) that it can be hassle once in a while.
I flew to Toronto (again this was three years back) from Chicago and ground staff at ORD didn't take my white I-94 out. When I went to consulate at Toronto, I gave them my PP with white I-94 attached along with the green I-94 that came with I-797. The consular took off the white I-94, kept my PP (obviously so they can put a stamp on it) and returned the green I-94.
When I was flying back from Toronto to ORD, I specifically asked the ground staff at Toronto for a white I-94. Remember, the immigration for getting back into US is done right at the Toronto (or at least it used to). The US CBP officer at Toronto stamped my PP and also the white I-94.
Hope this helps. |

That makes sense to me. Plus its easier to travel with H1B visa rather than AP (which can be subject to secondary inspection etc.). Good luck on your stamping. What consulate you are going to out of curiosity? I went to Toronto 3 years back for H1B stamping. |
Topic: i-94 question
You are fine taking I-94 to the consulate. They actually very likely won't take the I-94 out on the border. When you give your PP to consular officer for stamping, the first thing they will do is take the I-94 out.
I am not sure why you are going for stamping when you already have an AP but I guess you must have thought about something. |
Topic: AP TRAVEL TO INDIA VIA SINGAPORE
You are worrying too much. AP allows you to reenter into US and that's its primary purpose. If they ask you for your passport, show it to them along with AP. To my recollection, there were no immigration agents present at boarding area when I changed my flights. I just had to provide my boarding pass to the SA ground staff. But again, keep your passport and AP handy if they ask for it. And stop worrying-you'll be fine. |
Topic: AP TRAVEL TO INDIA VIA SINGAPORE
I travelled by SA few years back. You do NOT need a transit visa for Singapore Changi Airport. I also stayed at the airport hotel inside the terminal (book it now if you haven't already-it fills up fast).
If you are feeling fresh and have time in the morning, you may want to try taking a bus tour of the city. You'll need a transit visa for getting OUT the airport but I guess they can stamp your passport right at the airport for same day exit/entry. Enjoy your trip. |
