At last - approved! BUT there's the small problem of Entry Clearance now (was on WHM and worked for 12 mths so there's a high risk it will be rejected). Therefore, not celebrating just yet.... |

Topic: EC times in Australia FOR THOSE WITH AN HSMP APPROVAL LETTER
I too just posted this on the other thread...but we're so excited too... as you said Moosehead - what the hell !!!
My boyfriend also got his approval email yesterday. We've just got online now (currently on a roadtrip up west coast of oz) and tried the tracking number. It also doesn't work and the email said 'will be depatched in 5 days) so Moosehead, try not to worry.
This is my boyfriend's story (pretty much identical to moosehead):
(worked 12 mths out of 14 in the UK on WHM, started with HSMP application)
1st May - submitted HSMP application
18th Sept - HSMP approved
13th Oct - submitted EC in Australia (had to wait due to 3 month maintenance requirement)
5th Nov - EC approved (18 working days)
It seems they really are processing the HSMP EC applications at lightening speed. Anyone else still waiting, I can almost guarantee you'll get that 'it has been depatched' email very soon.
Lets all meet up in London. |

Congrats!! I feel I know you quite well now even though I've no idea of even your name!
We've all been through this process together with similar timings. We must def all meet up in London for that warm beer....although with the outside temperatures at the moment it'll soon cool the beer down if you take it outside!
Join the facebook group we've set up: http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=20051863245 '2008 - the year of the visa debarcle' and we'll arrange a meetup through that....as assume once people have got their EC and reported back to the trackitt 'gang' then they'll no longer be checking this site daily.
What will we do with our time - no more trackit, no more immigration boards,
btw - still waiting for EC but submitted on 13th Oct (with HSMP) so not expecting anything just yet... will let you all know when it does come through. |

WOW!!!!
Let's hope that's not just an exception and your application managed to 'fall' to the top of the pile. At this rate, people are going to have their flights booked too far in advance and not able to bring them forward due to non availability.... a situation none of us thought we would ever be in!
Congrats yp79 |

We also are in the same timeframe as you - expecting EC back around 15th Dec. We just (a couple of weeks ago) changed my boyfriend's flight and the only available date was the flight which departs Perth on 24th Dec arriving in Heathrow at 5.30am on Christmas day!! I'm the UK girlfriend so it'll be a great christmas present if he makes that flight. There were about 6 of the 'sale' seats left on there (the fare bracket which his flight is in)... I guess even they have gone now? The next availabilities were until after 20th Jan. This is Qantas btw.
And I agree - keep us updated with any timeframes any of you have. Thanks!! |

Congratulations and thanks for updating us. That's 36 working days in my calculations. AND you were on WHM. Certainly good news for a lot of us. Maybe everyone will be back in the UK by Christmas after all.
Please can you let us know how long it takes from getting the email to actually getting your passport back in your hands? This will help with booking flights etc.
Thanks |

I agree. Thanks Gstone. That's really useful information. You seem to have met every problem which has come with HSMP this yr. Usually I wouldn't bother reading a post so long but your story is really intriguing. We all think we've got it bad as we've been in this process since April / May but it's nothing compared to what you've been through.
A big congratulations to this all finally being over with. I hope you can get a flight back to the UK asap (as I know they're pretty full and super expensive at this time of year) and get back to getting on with your life minus the visa worries.
I sometimes get the feeling that people use this forum to find out waiting times but once they get their visa they forget to come back and update us all with their success news, which is totally understandable as I know that talking about visas once you've finally got it is not the first thing on your list!
Thanks again for your useful info and enjoy your life back in cold wintery UK !! :-) |

missionUK - congrats on finally getting there. 12 weeks though - that's a longer than 'normal' wait. My boyfriend has just changed his flight (AGAIN - 3rd time) and it's $130 cost each time (Qantas). This time the flight is for the 24th Dec, arriving on Christmas day! But with EC submitted on 13th Oct, and your 12 week time frame it's unlikely he'll even get that flight now. :-(
sara111 -We used a fixed term deposit. See my post here explaining what we supplied: http://www.trackitt.com/discussion-forums/hsmp-application/199375877/ |

My boyfriend is in the same position as you in so many ways (money in fixed deposit, worked more than 50% of time, applied before 30th June) so I feel I can answer some of your questions as I've done so much research on this myself.
I read somewhere that someone was told from the Home Office that if they have a letter from the bank stating the amount in the fixed deposit, the length of time it's been in there and, VERY IMPORTANTLY, that the money is accessible to you, to be withdrawn at any time whilst incurring a penalty / forfeiting interest then that would be ok. We got the bank manager to write such a letter (well, in fact I wrote the words for him) and to quote from their terms and conditions. We also included a bank statement covering the last 3 months.
We also thought it stupid to have such a large sum of money sat in a low interest account.
Regarding the 50/50 rule it seems from reading other posts that this has been overturned now. The High commission have been told that they can't refuse WHM Entry Clearance for this reason alone. People change their minds and, even though they may have 'intended' to work for only 50% of their time, circumstances change and the HC should understand that. So we're hoping this is no longer a problem.
Of course if you have worked more than 12 months then you may / probably will get refused as you are in definite breach of your current visa.
We're still waiting for an EC result (application only arrived yesterday) so I can't be certain that the above will work, but that's what we've done and we'll just wait and see.
You're lucky that you got to stay in the UK. My boyfriend left at the end of April to submit his HSMP application and hasn't been able to come back since. (I'm the UK girlfriend stuck out here in the UK). This time apart is not fun at all. :-( |
Topic: EC Processing Times in Australia???
My boyfriend has also been paying rent on our flat since he left in April. As well as paying rent to his mum in Australia.... Good to hear a lot of people are in the same position but not a good position to be in - it's almost impossible to save for the inevitable period of unemployment once you all get to the UK when having to shell out so much money during this visa process.
He applied for EC on Friday (should arrive in Canberra today). When he had his biometrics done, the person there said she'd heard rumours that they were flying over a lot of staff from London to work on the backlog of applications in Canberra. This is just hearsay though so I don't want to get all your hopes up too much.
Does anyone know how strict the 'you must enter the UK within 3 months of applying for EC' rule is? With a flight currently booked for 2nd Dec, we may need to move it yet again (another 50 quid!). 3 months from today is 13th Jan and it's a bit touch and go whether there will be flights available in his fare bracket (the original flight was a sale price flight... back in April). How can they expect you to get a flight at late notice in the busiest period of the year (Dec/Jan)?? |
