what do you mean by scrutinies? do you mean RFEs?

well, GC actually is "Adjustment of Status" so the AOs have to check if one was "in status" before adjusting it.

I know it sounds a little crazy, because status is being adjusted after proving one was already in status!!! that sounds wrong.

Status must be adjusted for those people who were initially out of status for 'n' number of months or so, then "adjustment of status" gives a meaning to the process.

But anyways, not everybody gets a RFE, its only these days that they have stepped it up a LOT. May be its because GCs are being issued without name checks. It is for our own security I would say. I know it does cause a LOT of hassle and stress, but once all the documents requested are submitted to the AO, it should be fine.
