I am not saying to make the whole military based on immigrants,
But please, read and study the French Foreign Legion first like I did, then you can comment on my idea.
They are hardly "mercenary forces of dubious loyalty"... they fought hard on world war II (albeit like the rest of the french army part of them joined the nazis) and in north africa they had one of the most vicious battles, legionnaire against legionnaire, with the allied side winning of course.
They are one of the most respected fighting forces in the world, and they are solely responsible for protecting the jungles and installations of the European Space Agency in French Guiana.
The U.S. can only learn from such a military force, comprised of immigrants and foreigners, yes, but tested and proved on fire. The ones that receive citizenship (it is not automatic) become fine French citizens. |
