I am getting ready to send 130 and 485 package for my parent - one quick question - on the i485 part 2 application type - do I choose option (a) which is immigrant petition with immediately available visa number or option (h) other and explai that i130 is also attached?

hey there i am not sure i didnt apply for AP but i know of people who got that approved first. and the ead should be about a month after biometrics done!if that helps.

hi..i am new here...been following this site for few days now....just thought of sharing my journey......might help someone...
I-485, and i-765 was sent to VSC on 2nd week of nov
My paperworks was later sent to TSC
receipt date was 11/17/09 for both the above
FP was dated 11/23, and I received it on 12/05
FP, scheduled for 12/15
My existing EAD is about to expire soon, and after reading the discussion got to know that I can walk in.
I did on 12/8, but it wasn't easy. I was advised I am early and to comeback on the appointment date.
I explained that I need my FP done asap as it will help with my EAD.
Some are saying FP/Biometrics would expedite EAD and some are saying FP is mainly for i-485.
After 3.5 hours of waiting, I was allowed to do my FP.
The status online changed today.....from last updated date 11/17 to 12/9.
I believe this is an overnight run by the system, which will automatically update our file when new entry (biometrics) is being made.
So, I am basically hoping that my EAD comes asap.......

Yes, biometric appointment is done as of last week. Now, we are waiting for the interview and approval letter.
Question... my husband came in with a F-1 Student Visa. Does anyone know if he needs to keep taking classes? He is just taking English as a Second Language in a non degree program.
Can he stop taking classes and not become illegal?

My husband and I have filled November 17th. I'm so nervous. I need my EAD approved by february, because that is when my old one runs out and I want/need to keep my current job.
We received RFE yesterday for a copy of my birth certificate (I can't believe I forgot to sent that...)But since it's only for the birth certificate everything else should be fine right??
What are my chances of getting a biometrics appointment before the end of the year?? Anyone know by any chance? Congrats on everybody that has made it so far =)

Applemac - Thanks for providing the list on top of the documents you filed, that is very useful. My story: employment based I-485 pending since 2005, my PD is November 2001 and there is no hope in sight of this moving anywhere. I got married to my wife, a US Citizen early last year, now just fed up of the wait and decided to do a Family based application through her while keeping EB based I-485 pending.
Question to ask you: How were items 10e and 10f in your list done? Was this in letter form or did you print out a form and have it filled and signed? Also, did you send copies of your wedding and other photographs as part of the package of forms and documents you sent to the USCIS? Thanks so much!

A friend of mine had another friend who went through this process. So she wrote a letter explaining how she knew me and my husband and confirming that our relationship is real. Then, I asked another friend to write a similar letter too. That is not a form, is just plain simple writing. They both took the letter to a bank where they have an account to have it notarized for free. That is, just to confirm that the signature is true and matches the person's ID.
I put photos of our wedding and times spend together sightseeing or with friends and dinner parties. You can use PowerPoint and put a photo per page. Then print the "hand outs" - like 2 per page or 4 per page. I sent 22 photos printed in color on pain paper. 2 per page on 11 pages.
By the way, being married to an US Citizen puts you on the top of the priority list at immigration. If you can, go ahead and do it! Employment is futher down their list.

Employment is barely on their radar! Had I known 8 years ago that I would still be waiting for my GC I would have never applied. Anyway, now that I have been married to my wife for over 18 months I finally gave up and before the end of this month will file I-130/485 etc. My wife is pregnant so if by the time the interview date comes she has had the baby then that will be good as showing the birth certificate will be further proof of bona fide marriage. However, my 2 year anniversary comes up in about 4 months so hope the interview is scheduled after that date, as then I will get the permanent 10yr GC instead of the Conditional 2yr one.
Any ideas if it is possible to postpone the interview date one we are scheduled for one? Am thinking that if everything goes smoothly and they schedule interview date before my 2 yr anniversary then I will tray and reschedule it. Any thoughts if this is possible?

Today (12/22) following your lead I walked in for FP before my appt (1/4) and it was pretty smooth and only took abt 15mins in total. (Lucky)
Just wanted to find out if you have heard more about your EAD, if it has been approved, and whether the walk in helped.
I am thinking of applying to expedite mine as I have a job offer contingent on having this soon, and will be a disaster if i can't take this job.

Good for you! I think it all depends ....
As far as my EAD is concern the status is still pending...but LUD changed from 12/9 to 12/11......thats about it.
Dont think FP helped in my case......
My existing EAD expired on 12/17.....I am sitting at home....and waiting. Hoping to get it at least by early Jan.
My employer is understanding enough........I can reapply for my job once I have a valid EAD in hand till the GC comes.
At the moment terminated.
My attempt to expedite EAD ...didn't work out for me.
I called USCIS but as usual was advised processing time frame is 90 days..I have to wait and ........................bla bla bla...
I am not discouraging you...but you should try, read all the forums on EAD..our colleagues have some good insight on what can be done..

they do ask for reasons........but they would keep repeating on what is stated in your receipt....you can tell them....you need to get it expedited..as you will lose your job if your ead dont get approved withing certain dates.....but they would repeat the same line over and over....and they would finally say to call back if its not processed in 90 days. just felt like talking to a robot.....

Sometime cases don't update at uscis website. Next 20-25 days you will get your interview letter..

I noticed on the USCIS online status checker that the case status (I-485) got updated 3 days after (Dec 21) the biometric appt (Dec 18).
The blue circles have not advanced though.

My EAD approved. But I-485, rfe sent. received an email saying that it reason will be indicated on the letter.
