Hello skunap

I have travelled via abu dhabi 2 months ago with my H-1B & the process is exactly similar to any immigration port of entry in the US. The only difference will be u dont go thru customs the Immigration officer will display ur bags in a screen & ask u to confirm if those check in bags belong to u after u have completed ur immigration portion & thats it u can then proceed to ur gate. Its the same process nothing different. I am assuming that with AP it will be the same as well as in the US.

You will need a transit visa but it is arranged by the airline for you so contact the airline 2-3 days prior ur travel date

We just travelled through Abu Dhabi on AP in Feb 2nd week. The process is normal like any other POE. The first officer verified every thing, took our Finger prints/pics, showed our baggage on screen and sent to other room for stamping the AP. The second officer asked us to sit for few minutes then he returned our documents with AP stamp. Hope this is helpful.

Thank You so much. What was the total time taken to complete both the steps, especially the 2nd one? What was the total lay over time? Were youable to catch the USA flight in time?

No need for transit visa to travel through Abu Dhabhi(even for any Middle East countries).

For connection time to US flights with my experience, need the minimum 2.5 hours between arrival and departure.

My wife traveled back on AP and was able to enter without any issues. Had her immigration at Abu Dhabi (AUH) on April 11. She was sent for secondary screening (regular for AP- waited nearly 1 hour) and No questions asked . Smooth process and faced no issues.

Quick question - while traveling on AP through Abu Dhabi (Etihad) do we have to collect our luggage from baggage claim and then go to the US Customs and Immigration or do we get our bags in US? Sorry if this is a lame question.
