Traveling to Germany using AP for Re-entry

Hello

I have work related travel to Germany, so I'll get Schengen Visa for my way into Germany. On my way back to the US, I'll have to use AP for re-entry. My question is does airlines like Lufthansa, United or similar airlines recognize AP as a valid document and allow boarding of US bound flights? Any inputs based on experience is helpful, thanks.

They always do, show passport and AP, serves like a visa into US. Have done it a myriad of times 100% effective.

The only airlines/country that so far in my experience does not consider AP as a valid travel document is UK. British Airways do not even allow transit through London on an AP. Have personally dealt with this hassle and had to cancel my British Airways flight and book united. Have used AP as a travel document from Germany, Sweden, and a few other countries from Asia and no problem

I called Lufthansa office in Mumbai and they said AP is not valid document for travel via Munich.

If you have UK transit visa then they will allow you to travel through London on AP. Have done that few time.

Yes, Lufthansa does not allow to transit without Schengen visa or transit visa but in this case, as you have Schengen visa, there is no problem. I travel to Germany many times on AP and came back but I had Schengen visa

Thanks eb2ca.

Have you specifically travelled via Munich either on United or Lufthansa, do they accept AP for boarding of US bound flight?

I called Lufthansa SF/Munich office they dont have any idea what AP is but they said if US accepts it and if I can show online that AP can be used to re enter then Lufthansa will allow to board.

So please let me know if you have travelled via Munich either on United or Lufthansa and if they accept AP for boarding of US bound flight?

and yes I will have Schengen visa for Germany visit
