I want to apply for AP, and this will be the first time. Could any of you please let me know the required documents and checklist from where I can find? also can I apply it myself? Please advice.

to goldfish123:
Prepare photos and all other documents ready then apply online, send above mentioned documents as soon as possible. Normally you will get your receipts in a week to 10 days.
1) Your I-485 receipt notice (I-797C)
2) A letter stating the emergency (reason) u need to travel out of the country
3) Copy of PP (1st and last Page)
4) I-140 approval notice if you have it or the receipt notice copy
5) Confirmation Receipt
6) Photograps 2
7) Copy of I-94 (Front & Back)
8) Prior copies of AP if this is renewal
9) If you have Drivers License/EAD
Best of Luck!

to njsuresh:
If you apply online, you only need to send 2 Photos with a copy of the Confirmation Receipt ( generated after the Online application is submitted ).
|
to jainash25:
thanks. Is the emrgency letter required?
|
to goldfish123:
Apply first and then once the application is in their system, contact them ... explain your emergency and follow what they tell you to do.
|
Electronical file is smooth in my case and approved within 10 days. Thank you to trackitt users for all help.
|
to divya87:
divya87: Did you also had to submit emergency letter? Is it required? If so from whom we need to get this letter? Please advice.
|
Emergency letter is not required. Just simple letter with attachments. You can see sample letter in the website www.immihelp.com or in this forum. Thank you and good luck.
1. Confirmation receipt (electronic file)
2. I-485 receipt
3. Two photos
4. Passport pages (first two and last page)

Hi Guys,
How do you apply online? Does USCIS have this service available or do you have to go through someone else?
Also, what's the apprx approval time peoriod for AP?
Thanks for your help.
|
I applied online on 20th April, 2009 and got CRIS email notification of approval on 31st of May. Once you apply via online, u need to send confirmation receipt, I-485 receipt, two photos and passport pages (first two and last one page). I was submitted all these by priority mail on 21 st April and got receipt 24th April. So please ask me if you have any questions about electronic file of AP.
Thank you.
|
to divya87:
tell exact website location and the procedures, so it will help others, and did you happen to do it yourself?
|
to goldfish123:
Yup. I need an address where I can go an apply. I am planning for a trip in Nov. Hopefully, I will get my AP before that.
Thanks Divya for your help.
|
Hi,
Once you create the e-file account, fill up the form and submit the application after making payment, then you will get receipt. So you will get mailing address and instructions details.
|
to divya87:
Thanks Divya, Got my eFile account. For everybody else who is looking for the address, its
https://efiling.uscis.dhs.gove/efile
Is A# the same as the number on I-94?
Thanks
|
Hi,
You can see the A# on I-485 receipt.
|
to divya87:
is there an option on efiling to waive the fee? i'm trying to do efiling but still asking me for payment. I applied i485 after the fee restructure and initial AP fee is wave. Can i do efiling without making payment?
thanks!
|
to divya87:
THANKS ANYWAY =)

Divya87:
On uscis website it is recommended not to do e-filing if you need AP in emrgence, also according to your posting it looks like it took only couple of days and when applied via paper based people are waiting for months..Just not sure at this point which way to go. Did Anyone who applied via e-file got AP within 10 days. Please share your experience..
|
Hi,
I applied AP electronically on 20th April and got approvals on 4th May physically. This is renewal and electronic filing. Service center Nebraska.
Good luck to all with waiting for AP.
|
to divya87:
Divya,
What's the difference between the first time and renewal. I applied for AP two years ago and now need another one. Did you have to do anything differently for the renewal?
Also, what is Class of Admission? I m on H1B :).
Thanks

Hi Divya,
Congratulation on ur AP and thanks for valuable comments on this forum
I have a question thou..
Did you get an appointment for biometrics (fingerprinting) or you got the approval without one this time?
Thanks
|
to divya87:
Divya,
Just submitted my application online. Got the Receipt Number. However, it doesn't have information on what supported documents I need to send.
Where did you get that information from and what is the list? Is it the one you posted earlier (see below)?
1. Confirmation receipt (electronic file)
2. I-485 receipt
3. Two photos
4. Passport pages (first two and last page)
Thanks

I am applying for AP first time. My question is can I apply it online and do e-file or do I have to do paper file. Please let me know.
|
to goldfish123:
I hope it's all based on luck. I have applied it thru eFile (EAD and AP) for multiple times. I have not had any issues. Average time is less than 30 days. Mine is from TSC.
Hope this helps and good luck.

I have applied for AP through online, as I understood we need to send set documents and photographs to USCIS. When I checkd online my case is with the Nebraska Center. My understanding is I should send the documents and photos to Nebraska address. Pls do help me by confirming.

Hi,
Your 1st page of the efilied confimation letter will have the correct address to send additional information. Use that address to send additional document.
|
Hi,
Can any one confirm that whether the status in online will be updated as soon as USCIS receives the supporting docuemtns of AP? I have applied for AP on 26th May online and sent supporting docuemnts on 6th June through USPS, still the status in USPS site is Acceptance. Pls suggest me with the best ways to get my AP approval soon.
Thanks
Kumar

to angaluru:
USCIS will update the status as soon as they receive your documents. Did you send the documents through Certified mail? Do you know for sure they received it?
They received mine in 4 days and the status was updated the next day.

Yes it is a Priority Certified mail and USPS scanned the tracking # on 10th June even I sent on 6th June. Still the status with USPS is Acceptance. I am not sure whether USCIS received it or not. When I tried to call USCIS, I am not able to reach Customer representative to know that whether they have received the documents or not. How long did it take for you to get approval of AP?
Thanks

Hi,
I can see my case status online as "Document mailed to the applicant" on 22nd of June. Can you pls tell me will it be a Approval Notice or there may be a chance for something else. Somebody else is saying if it is approved they will mention "Approved" online. Pls confirm.
What case status can you find for your case.
Thanks
|
to angaluru:
angaluru:
it goes from "Approved" to "Document mailed to applicant"
you are approved and the AP document is on its way. dont worry
|
to supertrooper:
Thank you so much for information.
|
to divya87:
Hi divya87,
Today I submitted I-131 online for my son, but the confirmation receipt says "DO not mail photos or copies of identification unless requested to do so by USCIS", also says for information on required supporting document for this application, see USCIS form instructions link, but this link say to submit those, this is contradictory.
When you applied online what did you send the supporting document?
Could you please reply?

to angaluru:
angaluru,
did you have to go in for finger printing?
Have you recd. your AP renewal physical document in hand.
Thank you
|
to bubba:
I did not go for finger prints.
Yes I have recd AP physical document.
|
to angaluru:
What is your I-485 status. Is it pending or have you recd. your green card.
I have been told that as my 485 is pending i can't efile.
|
to bubba:
Status of 485 is pending. Did you file for EAD, if not, I think need to apply for EAD along with AP.
|
to angaluru:
we have EAD and AP. We need to file for a renewal. 485 is pending. but its good to hear that if 485 is pending, still AP and EAD can be renewed online.
Thank you
|
to bubba:
Did anyone applied paper filing for AP recently? How long is the wait time of NSC to get approval? Please update.

I want to apply for Advance Parole I-131, in order to start up an application process for a Green Card. I have a L-1 visa that expires October 16, 2009. I plan to leave US August 5 and return to US, August 20. Please advice whether I should wait to apply at my return August 20, or I should send in the I-131 form today in order to speed up the process? Can I via my present L-1 visa, get into US August 20, even if my application for I-131 is still pending August 5? Thanks for all your advice!
