FP Appointment Cancelled Letter |

My wife and I were scheduled to have our fingerprints taken on July 7th. Today, we received letters for both of us and the letters say "Appointment Cancelled" "No need to appear at ASC". The funny thing is that the Notice Date for these letters and the original letters with the appointment dates are the same (June 12).
The letter does not say if they are going to reschedule us OR what the reason for cancelling. Does anybody have this kind of experience before? What should I do? Should I show up at the ASC on the previously scheduled date OR just wait for a new letter and date. My case is in NSC. Thanks.

to nix1:
My wife just received a similar letter from the NSC. Hers was July 9. We will have to call the NSC on Monday to verify the correctness of the information. I think they are doing this because of the resumption of the premium processing coming up on June 29. Maybe they are assuming that after June 29 people are going to flood them with premium processing whereby they will be obliged to review those applications before any other, so they are doing this to free up time. Remember it's all about money for them, not the well-being of those of us here.
I don't know if I am going to receive my cancellation letter later on, but I hope we get this fingerprint thing done to pave way for the processing of all the applications.

to oyiwa:
My wife and I received the same letter today notifying us of the cancellation for our biometrics taking place on July 7th. This notice and the original appt notice were both dated 6/16.
We will also call the NSC on Monday morning.
Meanwhile, does anyone have any other information, or know why these appts have been cancelled??
We are in Flordia, could our location be an influence or is it country-wide??
Thank you
|
to conqdequeso:
We are in Utah, so it seems like it is country-wide or at least the states served by the NSC.
|
to nix1:
We have the same deal. Issued the appointment and cancellation letter on the same date (6/16) in Louisiana. Looks like some kind of software glitch. However they managed to arrive on different dates. I wonder if they ever "accidentally" issue green cards to a few thousand people. oops.
|
In the light of the new validation procedure established at NSC, I don't see anything unusual in these cancellation. They re-validate your fingerprints automatically now.
|
to hciniluk:
My wife and I have never given fingerprints for USCIS before. How are they going to re-validate them without having any records of our fingerprints?
I read something similar to what you are saying on one of the websites. It said 95% fingerprints are validated automatically in NSC, but not sure how they do that.
|
to hciniluk:
Hciniluk, what exactly do you mean when you said, "they re-validate your fingerprints automatically now"? They neither explained why they were cancelling the appointment nor when the next appointment is going to be. Anyway, let's wait and see what they have install for us in the coming days.
|
to nix1:
I see no way by which they will validate or revalidate something they don't have records of. There might be some reasons other than this validation.
|
to oyiwa:
I think Hciniluk is talking about this unless he has some good info for us:
"In a recent update, NSC said that for about 95% of cases where the initial fingerprints were taken after Jan. 1, 2006 NSC is now able to refresh fingerprints internally. Fingerprints taken between late 2007 and early 2008 had system breakdowns and hence in a situation like this new biometrics appointments will be required but will be required only once. An ASC appointment notice is sent out sometimes when fingerprint data are missing from the system. When the prints are expiring they are either refreshed internally or new biometric appointment notices are sent. To keep these current two NSC analysts work full time. Only about 5% of all cases need to be rescheduled for ASC-the rest are refreshed internally by NSC."

It does not apply to us as we have never given fingerprints before for the USCIS.

to nix1:
We got exactly the same notice "Appointment Cancelled" for an appointment on July 7th.
I went to the ASC today to ask about the two notices. I was told that we should discard the
"Appointment Cancelled" notice and still go to the ASC to take FP on the date. The two
notices we got are for the same case and dated on the same day, which should not
have happened.
I don't think there is anything to worry about. Just go to the FP on the scheduled date
with the appointment notice. Based on my understanding, I don't think a new FP date is
being re-scheduling. Hence, don't wait for that.
If someone calls on Monday and finds out additional information, please share.
Thanks.

to wcil:
I am in San Jose, California and received original I-797C biometrics appointment notice letter on June 22. It said my biometrics appointment will be conducted on July 10. The notice date is June 16.
Today (June 27), I received an appointment cancelled letter indicated “No Need to Appear At ASC.” The notice date is still June 16.
If my memory is still good, the only fingerprint I have even provided to the United States is the time when I apply the U.S. visa in order to enter the U.S., but it was back to year 2005.
No idea what had happened to NSC? Hopefully somebody knows the answer...Thank you...
|
hi folks
exactly the same case here: biometrics appointment scheduled for July 08 - notice dated June 16 (received june 19)
notice of appointment cancelled received July 27 - notice dated June 16
I'm in VA
|
to wcil:
It's true the original notice and the cancellation letter were dated the same day, yet they were mailed on different dates. While the initial notice was mailed (in my wife's case) on June 17, the appointment cancelled notice was mailed June 25. In any case, we will find out more about this tomorrow, possibly.
|
to oyiwa:
Hi there,
Exactly the same problem, FP scheduled on July 8th, me and spouce, then received cancellation (no need to appear @ ASC). again thats in NSC. Please post any information you have or will have tomorrow.
Thanks
|
to shakoomakoo:
Biometrics refresh worked could be one reason.
|
Same story with me.
Got an appointment letter for 07/08/09 10 days ago and got an "appointment cancelled, no need to appear" with the same date yesterday (June 27). Hope to talk to my lawyer tomorrow (monday).
|
to ManuFan:
Please let us know what your lawyer says. I have no lawyer to call to.
Those of you who are calling NSC, please post what you find out. I will not be able to call them until this afternoon. And if we know the answer and if it just generic like computer glitch or will get a new appt etc, then I will not call as I am sure they will be flooded with calls today.
|
to nix1:
Well I had the same thing only from the TSC.
My appointment was scheduled for July 8th in a norice dated 6/16. On Saturday I received a notice dated 6/16 saying my appointment was cancelled. No reason given etc.
I spoke to USCIS and the lady assured me it was correct and it is a true cancellation. I am being rescheduled for a new appointment
|
to dancrane1980:
Hello all,
Spoke to my Lawyer this morning, they assured me that its no problem and I should get a letter with a reschedule date soon. He made an emphasis on not worrying about it and that it happens sometimes.
Hope this helps someone!!!
|
to conqdequeso:
Hi guys,
I just spoke with a USCIS officer and she told me that we should be getting another letter in the mail rescheduling out appointments. She had no answer on why my appointment was cancel in the first place.
|
I also got the same cancellation letter, dated the same day as my original appointment letter. I'm waiting to hear from my lawyer but, to be honest, no matter what he says I'm going to attend on the original date anyway and see if I can get my FP done. I'll present the original appointment letter and act dumb. Nothing ventured, nothing gained! I have to admit I was kinda relieved seeing so many others that this had happened to, I don't feel quite so alone in my panic now :) My original appointment date is July 8th, so I'll post again when I have been and let you all know if I managed to get around it.
|
to KarenandRicky:
I had an appointment for 10 July and got the cancellation last week. Mine is in Texas.
Contacted my lawyer and she said they had never seen this. She had 2 other people contacting her today for the same problem.
|
to dancrane1980:
dancrane1980 ,
Did she give you the new appointment date or she just said you will get one in the future (a generic answer)?
|
to chazz:
chazz, your lawyer is right that this thing has never happened to anybody before. If it had happened, there should have been something on this on the Internet. I searched for this few hours on Saturday and even found spanish and korean language websites talking about this and some people on yahoo as well. But all of these were from last week (specially Saturday).
It sounds like somebody's lawyer (above) also gave a generic answer like "this happens sometimes". And the lawyer is wrong.

to nix1:
I am glad to hear i'm not the only one going thru this
My problem started by not receiving the biometrics appointment .. after waiting 2 months my lawyer and I called USCIS mltiple times til someone told us they will notify the biometrics center to schedue me for appointment
2 days later i receive I-797 biometrics interview on 7-9-09
and i received 2 other ones all identical all stating the same appointment date ( probably because of all our complaints)
anyway on 26/6/09 i received the cancellation appointment - no need to appear at ASC
i called lawyer and USCIS today here is what they said
Lawyer advised to go ahead and go to the appointment even though it was cancelled
UScis told me not to worry and that i will receive another appointment in the mail
today i just received another cancellation but its different
the first 3 appointments and the first cancellation all had the same notice date 6/16/09 and same appointment date 7/9/09
this form says the same appointment cancelled no need to appear at asc in bold print but it also lists the appointment date as 7/11/09 and the notice date 6/26/09
confusing!

to mahdisoudi:
Good news,
just received a call from my lawyer telling me they received a new letter with the reschedule for the appointment for July 24. All seems to be good.
|
Oh my God! I thought I was the only one! Even I received the same Biometrics letter dated 6/16/2009 to scheduled to appear on July 7, 2009. Now I received a letter again after 2-3 days stating that the appointment is "Cancelled" and no need to appear. No reason stated. Both the scheduled and cancelled appointment letters are dated 06/16/2009.
Any one having any solution.
I think i should just go and be dumb. Who knows what happens. I don't want my application to get abandoned.
Btw what is the phone # combination keys to press when dialing TSC so that I can reach Customer Service?
Any help is welcomed and thanks in advance!
|
I just called my attorney and he said not to worry - I'll be receiving a new appointment soon. I asked him if he thought it would be a good idea for me to show up for the Biometrics on the original appointment dateif I don't receive a new notice from USCIS before that time and he said not to do that.
|
Good news,
just received a call from my lawyer telling me they received a new letter with the reschedule for the appointment for July 24. All seems to be good.

How soon did you receive the the re-scheduled appointment letter after you automatically received the Appointment Cancelled notice?
Thanks

I received it the next business day. Got the cancell on Saturday, and got the new one today.

to conqdequeso:
I called the phone number (1-800-375-5283) below the FP cancellation notification this morning and tried the “category 2-questions about your notification or re-issue documents” (I did not remember exactly what the content is but it was something like that.)
They could not answer this question but helped me to transfer the call to USCIS Customer Service. The representative has no answer either. I said is it ok to just go to the original FP appointment regardless the second cancellation notification? The replied was, “You could do that. If local office did not accept your FP action at that moment, try asking them for clarification at that moment.” It does not look like an answer…
My lawyer had no idea what is going on…I have not receive any re-scheduled FP notification letter…

to conqdequeso:
conqdequeso - That sounds good. My lawyer also said wait for the new appointment notice. I called USCIS and sshe was very sweet in talking. She said I don't have control over ASC appointment notice, but this is what I can tell you. Just go with the original appointment letter and tell then since I am here, might as well take it. So I am hoping I either receive a new appointment notice this week or just go withthe original.
Thanks mate.
|
So anyone in similar situation like us, want to share their experience? Did anybody else also received scheduled and cancelled appointment notices?
Thanks
|
to wikiuser:
Hello again guys,
I posted like five hours ago. I also got my appointment cancelled the was scheduled for july 9. Just this afternoong I checked my mail and got another NOA with my new FP appointment in it. So for those that are thinking of just showing up at their local ASC with a cancel noticed, I suggest you guys wait. I am pretty sure you guys will be getting a noticed soon with your new FP appointment date like I did. Lets stay calm.
|
Hello.
For those who got the rescheduled appointment (after the cancellation letter), could you say what is the date of your new appointment? I'm concerned that I might be out of the country by then.
Regards
|
to ManuFan:
I got new appointment for july 18.
|
to nix1:
same here. got the cancellation letter on Saturday.
My husband just went to the ASC today for his FP. My notice was just a week later than his. His didn't get cancelled.
The ASC people told him that I should wait for a new notice.
|
I have received my first appointment received on 6/19 for Jul 8th FP, received cancellation notice on Jun 29th (today). I hope to see in mail box tomorrow for rescedule FP notice if we are as lucky as some of you reschedulers.
|
i have received the same letter about the cancellation of the appointment that was originally scheduled on July 10th. Looks like a number of people are affected in July.
|
to june9809:
Hi there,
I called USCIS this afternoon, a lady said to wait for new notice and she seemed knowing what she's taking about ... may be other people called her as well because she knew what i was going to say.
I haven't received a resechdule letter but will post here if i do.
Good Luck
|
to shakoomakoo:
I was hoping to be lucky like some of you who have already received the second appointment dates. I checked the mail this evening and there was NOTHING for me from the USCIS NSC. I hope to receive something tomorrow.
|
Folks - Keep posting if you guys receive any re-scheduled appointment notice.
Thanks all!
|
to wikiuser:
Hi all!!! that happened to my mother too. She had an appointment for fingerprints for July 7 and received the cancellation notice on Saturday June 27. Today I mailed that same letter that we received on Saturday to reschedule it. Did any of you do that, was that wrong that I sent that letter of cancellation with the box checked for rescheduling. I thought that was the procedure but it looks like no body else did that.
Good luck everyone!!!

to gweschuck:
I am from Lousiana too and same thing happened to me. I dont know what's the reason.

to supadhyaya:
After waiting for almost 2 years (I am July07 filer) with several SR, InfoPass, finally out of the blue, I received FP appointment letter last monday and today I received cancellation notice. This is so disappointing. I hope re-schedule will come before 7/7, if not I am planning to go anyway ...just to make sure.
|
to sks74:
sks74,
Hang in there man. I am in the exact same boat. After 2 years, 4 or 5 useless SR's and an Infopass I got appointments for me and my wife. The notices are both dated 6/16 but the dates are July 2nd for my wife and July 8th for me. Yesterday I got the cancellation letter for me and my heart stopped for a moment. Seeing this thread I realized that most appointments around July 7, 8, 9 were cancelled without an explanation. Maybe they have some system maintenance planned around those days ?!?!?
P.S: I am planning to go 7/8 also even without a new notice....
|
Per Officer Fair at the NCSC#:
All appointments scheduled on July 7th, 8th and 9th have been cancelled (nationwide) . The USCIS will be uploading new fingerprinting equipment that week. Everyone should be rescheduled within 1-2 weeks.
|
to News:
My appointment date was for July 10 which is now cancelled, should it now read as dates 7,8,9,10 of July....just for the other folks to know.
|
to maddyp:
Yes. My apologies. Our Office is closed that Friday & Monday. The uploading will last all week from 6th-10th.
