The Medical test needs to be done by an approved Civil Surgeon, not just by any doctor. So my understanding is that you need to come back to the US and get it done here.

Approved civil surgeons can be found in the US and overseas, so I guess you can have it done overseas.

TB Test takes max 2 days for result. So Can't u do it in US before ur travel?

Not sure, To be safe side..You could ask your attorney If that is allowed to do it overseas/validity If not a consular process.

i did do all of it before leaving the US...medical examination except TB test science I have a record of it to be positive but just now they are asking me to redo it. I am overseas..I heat to cut my trip and come back to the USA but i guess I have to just to be safe. I checked online and USCIS have authorized doctors in every country called Physician Panel.

I was wondering if someone has a similar experience. Please share if anyone has done a complete medical examination overseas or just did the TB test overseas. Was it ok with USCIS to do the exam overseas … I am very interested to hear from you

Hello Coming

My wife had similar REF last year when she was in India. We got the test done in India and civil surgon who performed her medical accepted those testes and signed the forms. So as long as civil surgon who filled your medical is willing to accept TB test resilts from India and sign I-693 forms, you are fine. I am not sure whether you filled new I693 forms or old and if there is any change in those forms which prevents civil surgon from accepting test results from India. In my wifes case, forms were accepted by USCIS as well.

Pl check with your Civil Surgon (physcian who performed your medical, I 693), if he is oky, you may not need to come back. Pl check with your attorny as well.

Best regards

the way i understand it your wife just did the tb test in India then report the result back to the first civil surgon who orginaly did the test for her in the USA ..please correct me if iam wrong

then the civil surgon updated the I 693 with the new updated tb test ..

if this is correct , I think you made my day man...anyway thank you very much for your help...

If you have record of TB Skin test being positive you are exempt from having to redo it. You don't have to redo skin test. I received a similar RFE a few weeks ago. Consulted with lawyer and had the Civil Surgeon refill the forms. He had to explain under the TB Skin test section why it wasn't done and doesn't need to be redone. In many countries a TB vaccine was common and most eastern european test positive for it. As long as your chest x-ray came clean you don't have to repeat skin test.

Not sure about an answer to your exact query. But, i had a RFE for my medical too.

I have a history of positive PPD (done twice earlier) and in 2007 when i filed 485, I did go through the civil surgeon who mentioned on the medical form that PPD positive and XRays clear. That was it and we submitted the medical in 2007

I got a RFE in June 2009 and it was asking for my medical records. I went to the same civil surgeon who told me i have to provide documentation for the positive PPD from my previous tests. I could NOT get them, so he said it is OK to test again (actually, i think if we have documentation - it is best because every time there is reaction to the Skin test for TB). I got the test done and sure enough it was positive.

I also want to mention that the criteria has changed. Now, USCIS wants the ppl with PPD positive to be recommended to go for Evaluation for Treatment of TB (even though they do NOT have any active TB symptoms). The medical forms have changed and some civil surgeons are un-neccessarily pointing the applicants to fill up Part 3 and Part 4 of the medical form (which according to USCIS should NOT be filled - reference below). Look at the 2nd last question.

I-693 forms got changed from July 2007 version, so if you consult the physician and the lawyer both suggests the medical tests to be done in US jurisdiction, out side the jurisdiction, may not be valid, I had a similar situiaton, but I didn't took the chance, so we completed the TB medical tests done second time in US, after approching the lawyer and the physician who did the filing and medical tests, but finally it depends on the officer and the time, I mean little luck
