That the immigration reform legislation is deader than a doornail? I do, given the recent events and the current state of healthcare reform.

to whatever99:

Immigration Reform is a BIG joke of this decade. Everytime they talk about it they are laughing inside about this mess that nobody is really interested to solve. It is like bouncing ball that can be pulled out of pocket to play with for entertainment (just like Visa Bulletin)

Every month before they release new Visa Bulletin, they get together in a room and laughs a lot about how miserable the folks are who got caught into this backlog!! So we should also laugh every month looking at the visa bulleting as we don't have any other option than laughing :)

It is not in the Obama plate at least until the end of his first term (ofcourse if he is going to elected for the second term). May be at the end of this first time he will push for the immigration reform. That is what my guess is.

I also doubt if he will be re-elected. Not that him getting elected has helped us at all...

I agree, at the rate he is going right now, I doubt if he will get re-elected. A LOT of people are unhappy with him. He's turning out to be just a great orator and not much of an administrator or ruler.

Hmm, yes... Not to discredit him completely though.

Want me to show you "the silver lining" here?

Remember who he replaced? DUBYA!

Remember who would be the in power if he wasn't? McCain (who is fine) and PALIN!

I don't know why are you all banking on CIR.
CIR (if it ever hapens) will ONLY be beneficial to "illegal immigrants". It will push all of us even further back in the line.

I actually campaigned for Obama in my area. Now I am asking you to please tell me in what ways is he better than DUBYA. All politicians (anywhere in the world) are the same. Dubya at least promised and delivered (however dumb those promises and actions may be). This one only talks and talks, does nothing.

Off course you can. You just can not contribute money or vote. I live in a city which hosted a Democratic debate and his team was looking for volunteers. Thats how I was involved. I still get emails from Plouffe, Stewart etc.
