my wife is a religious teacher under R1 Visa (family R2). On May 11, 09, we filled I-485 and I-765 application and on June 9th we did the finger print.

1. How long it takes to get the EAD?

2. her R1 visa will be expired on July 30, 2009 do we need to keep our status valid with another type of visa because we reached the 5 years maximum period of extension.

3. How long it takes for I-485 to be approved

I appreciate your help

to jerusalem:

1) within 3 months
2) don't work after visa expire and before EAD arrive if you want to keep a clean status.
3) pray god, such time frame is not exist. expect to wait for 6-12 months if the petition has been approved.

good luck

Hi,
I am the same as you guys.
i 485 application sent in on April 29th
Finger printed 3 weeks later
Waiting from EAD, AP and of course the I-485. In some cases it can arrive withing 3 months. Probably more like 6. You must remember though that there is a sunset period on I485 approvals for R1 visa holders. All applicants must have there status adjusted ( not just sent in but actually be greencarded) by September 30th 2009. The hope is that they will extend the law again after that as they have before but one can never be sure.

Here hoping they expidite all cases
