I-485 Processing Times by I-485 Filing Date
The graph above shows approval times based on the date on which I-485 was filed. For example, if the Y-axis shows 50 days for Aug '05, it means that green card applications filed in August 2005 took an average 50 days to be approved from the date the I-485 applications were filed. The black line represents the average number of days it took for applications to be approved for a given month, and the gray line represents the number of applications that were approved for that month.
I-485 Processing Times by Approval Date
The graph above shows approval times based on the date on which I-485 was approved. For example, if the Y-axis shows 50 days for Aug '05, it means that I-485 applications approved in August 2005 took an average 50 days to be approved from the date the I-485 applications were filed. The black line represents the average number of days it took for applications to be approved in a given month, and the gray line represents the number of applications that were approved in that month.

Note: Some months may be missing from the graphs above because, from the data that users have posted on trackitt, no case was filed or approved in that month.

the graphs need to be split by EB1, 2 & 3 categories since EB3 has retrogression for all parts of the world
Posted by snrgreencard on 19 Sep 2006
It will nice, if the graph reflects retrogression
Posted by trackitt on 19 Sep 2006
We're working on it. Thanks for the suggestions.
Posted by trackitt on 22 Sep 2006
The graphs are now split by EB categories. Does this look ok?
Posted by deeleej on 26 Sep 2006
Looks great! Thank you for all your efforts.
Posted by selfmade on 04 Oct 2006
These graphs do not reflect the trend at all. The graphs are based on PROCESSED applications only while these are small fraction of all FILED (pending) applications. I'd suggest to have a graph of PROBABILITY: Lets say we have 10 people with the same priority month and one of them got approval while 9 are still pending as of today. So probability to be approved is 10% as of today.
Posted by trackitt on 04 Oct 2006
Hi selfmade,

That's an interesting idea. However, don't confuse 'trend' with 'probability'. We think the above graphs do indicate the processing trend, but not the probability, because indicating probability explicitly was never our intention.

We can certainly implement the probability graphs, but we're not sure whether even that will give you an accurate probability picture. The reason is that a lot of times users don't come back to update their case status to "approved" or "denied", or whatever. There is not much we can do about that except send them reminders (assuming they have entered a valid email address on our site and they check their email using that account). Even if we begin collecting receipt numbers, most users may not supply their receipt numbers because of fear of misuse. Which means the probability graphs will need to be taken with a pinch of salt. With the graphs currently based only on "approved" cases, at least we have accurate information on what has been approved.

We'll look into implementing your idea. Thanks for the suggestion.

Can you please split the graphs by service center? This will help in making the graphs more effective since each processing center is processing cases at their own pace. For example my I-145 is filed in Nebraska Center which is much slower than Texas Center.
 Posted by Chaos2Order on 01 Nov 2006
Correction, I meant I-485!
Posted by trackitt on 01 Nov 2006
Ok, will do. Give us a few days.
Posted by trackitt on 17 Nov 2006
Graphs can now be split by service center, so you can see average processing times for each service center separately.
Posted by deepakxy on 18 Nov 2006
I think your graphs are excellent...thats why I mentioned about your tracker at the imm forums I visit. I think the more the entries you have the better it is. So try to generate more traffic to your site. Best of luck.
 Posted by mdlbr20020531 on 30 Nov 2006
I got the link from imm forums and came to visit this site. Nice effort. Suggestions:
a) Country of application is needed to make it realistic and everyone can relate to it directly.
b) Service center wise graph will be another nice addition, looks like already requested.
Site is helpful to all as long as candidates work :-) and are waiting for the next step.
Posted by trackitt on 30 Nov 2006
Filtering by service center is already enabled. Look for the pulldown on top of the graphs.
Posted by trackitt on 30 Nov 2006
Nationality will be a nice addition, agreed. But it will take a while for us to incorporate that. Because we have other higher priority features planned for this site to be released in the next month or so. Thanks for the suggestion.
Posted by deepakxy on 04 Jan 2007
It would also help if we have FBI name check as an addition.

Nice job. Thx a lot!

What was the point to split non-concurrent I-485 and concurrent I-485 trackers?

Even when filed I-485/I-140/I-765/I-131 concurrently, each one is being processed individually and generally has no impact on each other, well, in case I-140 is denied the whole case is screwed but other than that there is no point to separately track concurrent cases. So I suggest to merge concurrent and non-concurrent I-485 while having a flag concurrent/non-concurrent. The same applies to I-140.
Posted by trackitt on 17 May 2007
Good suggestion. The graphs are different just because the trackers are different. This is a complex thing you're asking for. We might simply add a new graph that consolidates the I-485 cases, whether concurrent or not. We'll have to think about this one.
Posted by selfmade on 17 May 2007
Actually, I'd rather move information from combined concurrent I-140/I-485 case into atomic ones: I-140, I-485. Looking at tabular data it's pretty easy thing to do.
 Posted by EB1EA on 22 May 2007
1. If a user did not apply for I-765 and/or I-131, a checkbox to check to let reader know that the case is not pending for long time rather user never applied for the benefit.

2. Remembering of user last visit preference (in a cookie form or tagged to a particular user account). For example, I applied to TSC and when I view I-485 cases, I like to filter cases that are at TSC in the order of receipt date. Now I have to go through these step each time I login. The same for other applications such as I-140 etc. etc.

3. A significant number of applicants upgrade their I-140 petition to PP later during the course. Some user write this in notes ("upgrade to PP on....") and some may not. Besides it is not user-friendly to tease out regular cases from those that are upgraded to PP. Although case type could be changed to PP, that would give information as if PP cases are adjudicated in more than 15 days. If a third option, such as "Upgraded to PP later", is introduced.

Thanks for the feedback. We're working on it.

Great job!!!. Thanks for your time and effor.
 Posted by gc94536 on 17 Jul 2007
It would be nice to graph how many people didn't get 485 approved yet by month. That way we know how many people are waiting for each month. Thanks.
 Posted by vij90 on 22 Jul 2007
can you please add year wise 485 trend those who have not yet got appoved. as gc94 said.
Thanks
Posted by trackitt on 22 Jul 2007
Hi guys, the problem with graphing those case that are not approved is that those graphs may not represent accurate data. Sometimes users don't come back to update their case status on tihs site, so it's hard to tell whether those cases are really pending or not. For approved cases, we know that data is accurate because it is entered by the user in a timely manner.

We're thinking of better solutions to this. If you have ideas, let us know.
 Posted by mdlbr20020531 on 23 Jul 2007
Trackitt, not sure if it will be treated as spam, but you can send e-mails to the candidates to update their information. hopefully at the very least we can see some responses.
Posted by trackitt on 23 Jul 2007
Actually, we do send reminders to our users.

Check this: http://www.trackitt.com/reminders/
Posted by dwarak on 09 Aug 2007
Can the graph be split countrywise which will be very helpful in predicting since the approval trend depends hugely on the country of birth too.
Posted by Shiankuraaf on 09 Aug 2007
Yes please.... split countrywise... The deference in process between the cases of deferent countries is far more. It will be accurate to judge the trends on the Country than the all combined together.
 Posted by waiting4what on 15 Aug 2007
I don't think the figure is correct. I roughly counted the number of approved I485 between July 7 and Aug 7. There are more than 50 cases having been approved. But I couldn't find it on these figures. Why?
Posted by rsantos on 16 Aug 2007
Would be also nice to have approval by (last) fingerprint date. This way we can track per major milestone.
Posted by Shiankuraaf on 23 Aug 2007
I request evey body to take sometime and update their entries in the trackitt, when ever there is an approval or important change occur to your cases. This would be helpful to every body here to have a clear and accurate case data.
Posted by swede on 29 Aug 2007
Can you please add "Priority Date" and "Time from Priority date until approved" in the graphs?
Thanks.
Posted by trackitt on 29 Aug 2007
If you are trying to obtain the total time it takes to obtain a green card, then we will soon be working on a feature that lets you estimate total green card time based on averages we see on this site. For example, if my case were to be filed with Atlanta PERM, then I-140, then I-485 with Nebraska, how much time will it take me -- all based on averages computed on this site.

I suppose that will answer your question?
Posted by swede on 31 Aug 2007
Yes. That is sort of what I want. But I want to see how the priority date relates to your GC approval date. Easy way would be just to add another field to the i485 data "Priority date" the user can enter and then in the tabular data calculate days between that date and the approval date.
Posted by trackitt on 31 Aug 2007
The priority date field is already there. The column is called "Labor Filed". What we don't have is a column for Total Time Since Priority Date.
 Posted by prom3 on 01 Sep 2007
Great site. Some suggestions:

1) Add a field concurrent filing yes no, because a lot of people use this tracking and no the concurrent one.
2) Add a field Sent to Service Center:

Thank you !
Posted by trackitt on 01 Sep 2007
1. All cases in this tracker should be non-concurrent filing only.
2. We already have filters on top for Service Center and Category.
Posted by rsantos on 02 Sep 2007
trackitt people
This is a good forum to collect voice of the custumer, etc.. but I just want to say in a very americanized way (because we are all here going that path anyway ) that your site kicks ass!
You are absolutely on the right path here... keep up with the good work!!
 Posted by prom3 on 02 Sep 2007
Thank you for responding.

1) Concurrent or not field: I meant a lot of people is using this tracker instead concurrent tracker, and you can see always the question "Is yours a concurrent filing?"

2) Regarding a Service Center field, I know you already have it, but I meant the Service Center where users sent the application, not where it is currently being processed.

Thank you for this site, is excellent.
Posted by psgdoc on 05 Sep 2007
If there only few cases reported in EB-1B it is meaningless to draw a graph. It doesnt mean anything if there are only two or three points.
 Posted by prom3 on 20 Sep 2007
I think would be better if you integrate both I-485 and I-140/I485 concurrent data and add a concurrent filing (yes/no) field and also a filter. Users have to check twice, and I've seen a lot of filers mixed in both databases.

Thank you for this service !
Posted by trackitt on 20 Sep 2007
We realize that's an issue, and we plan to integrate the two I-485 trackers some time soon.
 Posted by prom3 on 26 Sep 2007
Great update.

I think you should include a I140-485 filing (concurrent/no concur) and a I-140 status and I-140 approval date also in the I-485 tracker, because that is a very important data in order to compare cases and processing times. Thank you.
Posted by trackitt on 26 Sep 2007
Will do.
Posted by spirit on 27 Sep 2007
Dear trackitt,

It will be great if you could add a third graph that has two lines - 1. Number of I-485 petitions filed by filing date and 2. Number of I-485 petitions approved by filing date. Given that you already have drop down selections for Category and Nationality, the additional graph will provide a time distribution of I485 filings and approval ratio by nationality. This can be very powerful in tracking the approval progress towards one individual petition.

Thanks.
Posted by spirit on 28 Sep 2007
Let me clarify my earlier request for a third graph. The x-axis should represent priority date and not I485 filing date.
Posted by angelabete on 04 Oct 2007
I support Spirit's idea about a third graph!
 Posted by prom3 on 08 Oct 2007
Some ideas for tabular data:

1) a new field: Number of dependents filed (tracker should be just for primaries).

2) a new filter for PD. One would be able to filter cases depending of the Labor filing date and Country of origin at the same time. That would permit to get data only for cases theoretically "approvables".

Thank you !.
Posted by ashirwadb on 10 Oct 2007
Just a suggestion. A lot of entries in the tracker dont have Labor PD filled up. Can a reminder be sent to them to add PD to their profiles. This would just a routine to check the validity of entries made to the profile (another check could verify the dates since a lot of entries have future dates).

A much complete profile would provide the tracker more validity and true picture.
Posted by ashirwadb on 10 Oct 2007
I like prom3's suggestion # 1 above.
Posted by trackitt on 10 Oct 2007
ashirwadb: The reminder emails are currently going out to 550 users to update their Labor Filed Date, for cases that fall into EB2 or EB3 categories only.
Posted by trackitt on 11 Oct 2007
You can now select the Starting Date from the list of filters to be either I-485 Filing Date or the Labor Filing Date and capture trends.
Posted by spirit on 12 Oct 2007
Trackitt: Thanks for adding the labor filing date as an additional filter. This does tell us how many I-485 applications were approved by labor-filing date. Would it be possible to add another line on the same graph to show the number of applications that were filed? Adding the second line will help determine the approval ratio by labor filing date.

Thanks.
Posted by qatest on 22 Oct 2007
It will be nice to have ability to export the report to excel so that we can look at data removing the unwanted data.
Posted by angelabete on 23 Oct 2007
qatest, that is such a great idea!
 Posted by Leo1003 on 31 Oct 2007
Folks, do you have statistics for russians? I've been stuck in the line for more than 4 years (EB1), which is much longer than for other nati0onalities, and I also hear from other people that russians are not getting approvals lately, so I wonder if that's happening because of racial/ethnic sifting
Posted by igorojas on 02 Nov 2007
Can you add what is the percentage of applications approved by month?

Having the number of applications approved in a given month doesn't tell us much about the trend on "how fast" are applications being moved along.

You have the total number of applications in a month and how many got approved in that month, calculating the precentage is not a problem. Right?

How to display it? you can use a column or vertical bar per month with the percentage on top.

Thanks!

p.s. Keep up the great work you guys do! kudos!!!
 Posted by prom3 on 04 Nov 2007
Please consider to include a PD current/not current filter in tabular data.
Thank you.

 Posted by GSB06 on 20 Dec 2007
Dear trackitt,

In the REPORT section, it would be helpful to have the chance to incorporate the latest Visa Bulletin cut-off dates per category so that we can determine, out of the total number of applicants who have posted their info on trackitt, what % of applicants is current by category/service at the time of the report and therefore should expect to receive a GC number soon (if VB cut-off dates remain unchanged)

Hope it helps. Thanks a lot for the great job and for the worderful site.
Posted by trackitt on 20 Dec 2007
Thanks for the suggestion.
Posted by gsboris on 31 Jan 2008
Hei guys, is it real number of cases? So, all SC, all categories and all nationalities give about a 1000 cases were approved last year, and about a hundred in 2006? Is not it way too low?
Posted by gsboris on 31 Jan 2008
My bad, guys, I guess that statistics is only for those that registered here, right?
Posted by mmmm on 05 Feb 2008
Hi Trackitt. Now that there is a lot of discussion and huge delays on FBI name check. It will be nice to have a column for FBI name check done or not to have an idea where it currently going on.
Posted by gotitt on 14 Feb 2008
Hi!
Lots of file are getting transfered to National Benefit Center (MSC). We need to have MSC under service center in Service Center drop down.
It will help us to find files of which date are being processed and estimate our wait time.

Thanks
 Posted by atia76 on 23 May 2008
Yes it is true... we have case that is transfer to National Benefit Center. We need to do the tracking of notice transfer notice...pending notice from NBC... interview notice.. interview date...approval date... and graph of waiting time from notice transfer to 485 approval....
Posted by raguramk on 15 Jun 2008
I am regular user of this page and I commend the person who thought of it for making it into such a useful utility.

It will be great to add an additional feature in the tabular data section to sort by multiple columns (at least two columns to start with). Example: I would like to sort by "Approval Date" and then by "Priority Date".
Posted by MainHoonNa on 17 Jun 2008
Another idea that may be helpful to implement is to add a graph that shows the trend of pending applications vs approved in a month.
