Finally got my Passport back with PR visa! I was waiting for my PPR since ages! Buffalo was replying me the standard reply "We have requested background information from other government offices(s)" :-(

One more thing OPPNP,

Did you have an offer of employment when you applied for certificate? I've read in tnis website that if you have job offer or already working in canada the process is 5-6 months to get PR card..

From my understanding, individuals cannot apply to Ontario Provincial Program without an approved job offer from an approved employer in Ontario, can they?

No . you are right. they have to have a job offer. I don't understand why it took so long for you to get the background checks.. have you lived in more than two countries?

NO! That is why I start to be confused! My background history is pretty simple!

I start to believe now that the 5-6 month process does not apply for all individuals! After all, if you checked other forums, you would realize that there are some provincial nominees have been waiting for more than a year for their background checks! This is just ridiculous!

Could you please let me know how to apply to Ontario as proviance nominee. Whether I need a job before applying under Ontario
proviance nominee?

You can either apply as a foreign worker or an international student and yep, in either case, you need a job/job offer before applying.

you may check these out for further details:

Hi OPPNP,

I have a question.
I am filling up the Ontario PNP Nominee Application.
There is a section for entering the "Citizenship and Immigration Canada Document Number"

Could you tell me where it is located on the work permit?

Thanks
Waiting for your reply.

Hi neochap,

I remember that I called in Ontario PNP call center and asked them the exact same question. They told me just write in that section "please refer to the attached copy of my work permit", we should submit a copy of our immigration document with the application anyway .

That's what I did ...

Good luck.

Hi there! I can tell that you are waiting quite a while now. I heard a couple times now that once the quota is reached CIC is just not processing more applications for that special year. Maybe that's why it's taking you so long? I am waiting for some documents and will be applying in January 2010... hoping for a quick turnaround of course!

Good luck to you!

HI OPPNP!
Thank you! Can you tell me about your experience with the work permit that goes with the PNP certificate? Did you receive an open work permit or a closed work permit (employer bound)? Did you apply for it in Vegreville or did you get it in Buffalo/crossing the border?

Thanks a million!
B.

Hi Mermaid3011,

The work permit that goes with the PNP certificate is employer bound; only for the nominating employer. Normally your PNP office will enclose a supporting letter for your Work Permit application addressed to Buffalo.

Good luck,

Argghh.... no!!!
Yes they did attach the letter. But I was somehow hoping it would be an open work permit. That's what OOPNP told me when I called them. But I guess the student there didnt get what I meant.

dang... I wanted to hear it's an open WP! Oh well... I suppose I dont have to rush to Niagara then...

Thanks for letting me know though! All the best to you!

Hi,

I'm a provincial nominee applicant and I received my AOR more than a month ago and got medical done right after. I'm waiting for the initial assessment, could you please tell me what the assessment is about? Do they send it in case of lack of documents or everybody should receive it? I'm not sure if I'm supposed to get it or not.

Thanks in advance,
MBFC

Hi,

As far as I know, the applicant should normally get the initial assessment, whether or not more documents deemed to be required. This is exactly how it looks like: http://forum.yorkbbs.ca/upload/2009/02/118/123469857914291.jpg

Good luck,
