Hi,
I was an international student and when I finished my school I got postgraduate open work permit for 3 years.

Hi La22ir. Thanks for your reply. I am afraid that postgraduate WPs are different to those Ontario PN's that are going through their employer. I wish it would be an open WP but everyone else told me by now the WP would be closed (which sucks)... oh well...
But thanks again for your reply and help! I wish you the best of luck to get your PR soon!!!

Hi Mermaid,

Did you receive AOR (Acknowledgement) for your application from buffalo? I suppose you sent your application on Nov. 29, right?

I have applied under Ontario PNP and sent my application to buffalo during mid of December. But I haven't received any reply yet.

Please let me know at what stage you are.

Thanks
Best Regards,
Neochap

Hi Neochap,
no my application has been delayed. I am sending my documents to Buffalo early next week (around Feb 15th). Sorry. Have you received your AOR by now? I think it'll take a while... probably 3 months or so...
All the best to you too!

Hi OPNP1,
It will very likely not take 3 months. My nomination took about 4-6 weeks. The process is quick and straight forward. I am sure you'll receive your letter soon. Good luck!

Hey guys hope everyone is doing well..my question to you guys is what is the process of getting a PNP Certificate do I have to apply for it or my Employer?....This is the situation I used to work in Canada but now im back in my home country, do i need a job offer as in it has to be approved by human resources or just a letter from my Employer in Canada stating my duties my salary and such in a job offer format. your answers will surely help me out. and please how do i go about getting the certificate is it my duty or my employers thanks guys god bless.. takecare for now!

Hi Magix, it all depends on where (in which province) your employer is located. If the company is based in Ontario and you want to work in Ontario you will need a job offer by your employer and your employer also has to apply for pre-approval first. An LMO by HRSDC is not needed in this case. Please read the details about the program on their homepage:

http://www.ontarioimmigration.ca/English/pnp.asp

After your employer is pre-approved (takes about 2 months) you need to apply for the Nomination. It costs 1500 - 2000 CDN and takes 4-6 weeks. With the nomination certificate you receive a letter that will give you the opportunity to apply for a work permit right away. At the same time you will have to apply for Permanent Residency as Provincial Nominee.

I hope this helps. Good luck!

Hello Mermaid3011,

Could you let me know when did you receive the file number for your nomination? And after you received the file number, did it take only a week to receive the nomination letter...Thanks...

There wasnt a lot communication between the Ontario PNP Office and me/my employer.
The following timeline shows my case. I did NOT receive a new filenumber after my application. The only filenumber that was given to the case was the one after my employer applied for the pre-screening stage.

This is my timeline:

My employer applied for the Ontario PNP pre-screening on June 8, 2009.
My employer received a short letter with a file number on June 23, 2009.
My employer received my application package on August 12, 2009.
I sent in my personal application on October 8, 2009.
I received a phone call from the officer early in November and on November 5, 2009 the nomination letter through courier.

I am pretty sure that the phonecall was to test my english proficiency and to double check some dates and details to make sure everything is true what I wrote in my application. They asked me questions that were all written down in my application like names of past employers, timelines when I worked where and with whom, when I entered Canada for the first time, who I am working for now etc. It was very nice and relaxed though. Nothing to worry about if you have been honest in your application.

Thanks Mermaid3011....I appreciate your response...
So you did not receive your nomination file number......May be thats why they just directly sent you the nomination approval after 4 weeks...
For me, I received my nomination file number after 3 weeks of them receiving my application and now already 4 weeks has gone past in total....I do not know how much time will they take to process my application....I guess it should be very quick as I am applying under international student category....So there is no question of work experience etc....
Eh I will just keep my fingers crossed hoping for a quick reply....

Hi Brigit,

Did you receive your AOR and medical request? I see that it has been almost 2.5 months since you applied. When do you think you are likely to receive it?

And by the way, did you get your medicals done? Or are you waiting for your medical request? Thanks.

Hi OPNP1,
I haven't heard anything from Buffalo yet. I am actually hoping that they WONT start working on my case so that I can get a refund once my other application is through. I am planning to withdraw my PNP application once I get my passport request from Germany. Tomorrow is my medical exam... wish me luck :o)

Hi Brigit,

I guess it is good for you to withdraw your PNP application if you are to receive PPR request from germany soon. I guess it has been a very long time since you have applied to germany. So you should be receiving it soon. Moreover you save your money. The medicals that you have tomorrow, was it requested for your FSW applicaiton or PNP? Or none of them requested it and you are on your plan to have it done ahead?

Also if you have not received medical request from germany , you might need to rethink about withdrawing your PNP application. Take care Brigit. Please update yourself and be in touch. Bye

Hi OPNP1,
yes I received the medical request from Berlin, Germany. So as soon as I receive the passport request from them I will withdraw my application for PNP in Buffalo.

I will let you know once I hear either way.

all the best!

Hi Brigit,
Thanks for your response....I am in need of your help....Can you please answer my following queries: My details: Currently on Open work permit valid till OCT 2011.

1. I have applied for PNP....But now I qualify for the FSW category......I am thinking of applying under FSW....What do you suggest? The main reason for me to think this way is that i am not sure if my employer can keep till I receive my PR. The company is loosing projects and currently short of work load....

2. I am sure that I will be working in my company till I receive my medical request....but not sure after that ...may be ,may be not....Do you suggest me to apply for FSW...Will they cancel the pnp process even at this stage if I loose my job.

3. If I apply for FSW, do I need to update the Ontario PNP office and CIC office with the information that I have applied for FSW.....if yes, then how do i do it.....

4. If I loose my job after getting the medicals done, what is the likely hood of cic and pnp withdrawing my application.....what does pnp office normally do......

I know I have poured down a lot of questions on you....Wanted to get some insight from your end....Thanks Brigit...

Hi OPNP1,

no problem - I am happy to help:

1. Yes if you can afford the 550 $ for a second application I would apply under the FSW category. If you lose your job the PNP application will be cancelled! (I just had a friend applying with an AEO and before they sent her medical request they called her old employer to confirm the AEO. They said the job offer was not available anymore and she got rejected.)

2. Yes - CIC will very likely consult your employer to make sure you are still working there when it comes to issuing your visa. If you are not employed there anymore your case is void and they will NOT issue the PR under the PNP process. Actually it is your duty to inform CIC of any changes (for example loss of job, change of employers).

3. You do NOT have to inform CIC about an ADDITIONAL PR application. They can see it in their system anyway. No need to send any updates or informations on that. It is your right to apply under different streams at the same time.

4. CIC can reject your application at any stage. Even after you passed the medical exam. If you are not employed at the same company that sponsored your PNP application CIC will reject your application. That's why I suggest applying under FSW in order to keep your options open.

All the best!

Hi Brigit,

Thanks a lot for your answers....You have certainly been of a huge help to me......Just a few more questions if you don't mind....

1. Do I need to inform the OPNP office that I have applied for the FSW category?

2. In the Schedule 3 of the economic class FSW application, Question 11 asks you to fill out the occupations in the last 10 years.....Now my point is I have more than one year of work experience in canada as Engineer....That itself is sufficient for me to qualify for the 67 points.....So Can I just write this occupation and choose not to mention the experience that I have in my home country....The reason I don't want to mention back home experience is because I cannot the reference letters and the experience letter from the company as it is already out of business and closed....

So is it fine to just mention the experience here in canada because i don't to claim the points against the experience back home.....or irrespective of whether you will claim the points against the experience or not, you have to mention it......Please advice...

Thanks once again Brigit....

No problem at all.

1. no you do not have to inform the OPNP office. in your new application you only state that you have applied for PNP PR on xxxx (date).

2. I recommend to fill in your work experience from your home country as well to make your application complete and trustfull. Later when you are asked to provide your certificates and letters of experience I suggest you write up a text (just a couple of lines) stating that you cannot provide a letter of recommendation as the firm is out of business by now. That's enough. I did the same thing with two jobs in my past and it was accepted. Sign your submission and include it in your documents when you send in your package (that is only required after you receive your 120 day letter - not now for your initial application).

I would assume that you are actually required to give a complete list of your work experience. Just to give all the information asked for.

All the best!
Brigit

Sorry for the late reply. I was up north to visit my friends.

Thanks a lot Brigit. I highly appreciate your help. Sure, I will write down the experience that I have back home. What about the job duties..How do you write it? Does it have to match the NOC code description on the website? or it can be general job duties specific to field...Like suppose Embedded Engineer...Does it need to match exactly the one on NOC code description.

Also, have you heard anything yet from the Buffalo office? It is 3 months now...They are working extremely slow on PNP applications, where as CEC are processed much faster....

Do you know when was your Bank Draft cashed by the buffalo office? Thanks Brigit....Be in touch....

No / nothing from Buffalo yet. No Meds no AOR.... but I am ok with it. I want to get a refund as soon as Berlin issues my visa! We'll see... I'll update my file as soon as I hear something new! Promise!
Posted by opnp1
28 May 2010 #24
Thanks Brigit....Seems reasonable for you to get the refund....Berlin will not take more time to request Passport from you....

Now I think it will atleast 4 months for me to the AOR.....Even after paying $1500, the process does not seem to be any faster than FSW.....Also the irony is you cannot change the job when you have much more challenging and good paying jobs available for you.....

One question for you....job duties in FSW application..How do you write it? Does it have to match the NOC code description on the website? or it can be general job duties specific to field...Like suppose Embedded Engineer...Does it need to match exactly the one on NOC code description.

Be in touch Brigit...Thanks....

Hi opnp1! tough luck. I didnt get the refund. Buffalo sent the AOR and medical request in June. But they also confirmed that I don't have to take the medical twice within 6 weeks. I gave them all details from my DMP and when they were sent to Ottawa. Buffalo is going to cross reference the file with the exam results and should move forward soon. We'll see... still a race between who is quicker: Embassy in Berlin or Buffalo!

I assume you have already received an answer to your question? (sorry I was on vacation)
I would say: no! Your job description actually SHOULD NOT match exactly the NOC code description since it would be too obvious that you have copied it. I suggest to put some effort into the job description of your old job and reword it, but keep the main expressions so that it reads differently but the result is the same. It's tricky, but you can do it! I was very nervous about this too and they didnt make an issue out of it at all. They accepted everything I wrote in my job descriptions even though they were not matching 100% and even though I couldnt comply with ALL the bullet points that the NOC code is giving.

All the best!!!!

Hi Brigit,

How are you dear? It has been very long since I have heard from you....Firstly, how was your Vacation..? Hope it was fantastic...

Congratulations on receiving your PPR request from Berlin...It has been quite a long journey....Now you can sit back and relax for a while.....Hope you get the approval soon....It is good that you did not had to do the medicals again....In this race, at last it was Berlin who won it...

Well I am not sure when am I going to receive my AOR...It has been almost 3 months now...No AOR as of now....Could you tell me if;

1. I can do the medicals now without AOR? Will it hurt my application? or will it delay it more? or is it advisable to do it with AOR?

I want to speed up the process...i don't want to wait one more month for the medicals to get uploaded....And how long do you think is the process after medicals?

Be in touch Brigit....Take Care..

Hi OPNP1!

I really can't say if taking the medical without a file number makes sense. I suppose it is smarter to wait until you get a file number.

I applied 4 monhs ago in Buffalo for PNP PR - that seems to be Buffalo's timeline right now. You might have to wait another 4 weeks. Maybe it comes quicker.

The problem with the medical is, that they send you a form that the doctor needs to fill out and sign. It also needs a picture of you. If you don't have that form it will probably be more hassle to take parts of the medical NOW and once you have the file number you need to see the doctor AGAIN to complete the documents and have them sent off to Ottawa.

You can ask the doctor's office if they could do the blood, urine and xrays in advance. That gives you an advantage of about 2 weeks. Once you see the doctor with the form they can send those documents off immediately. That might help... but as I am saying: it only saves about 2 weeks.

Once the medical is done it takes about 6 weeks until you get the passport request.

All the best to you!!!!!!

Hi Brigit,

Thanks for your suggestion. Yes it seems that buffalo time line is more than 4 months now...Almost 4.5 months...Is it that no matter from which country you are, all will receive the aor and medical is a sequential order. I hope that buffalo sends the aor and medical request soon...

And I am planning to do my medicals next week....I know the form requires a photo...So thats why the doctor photocopies the application by sticking the photo...I wish that every thing turns out well....

You said it will take 6 weeks to get the PPR request after they receive medicals...Is it so? From this tracker, it looks like people are waiting a long time before they are being requested for PPR....

Thanks brigit...Take care

Hi opnp1!
Yes everyone is getting their medical requests in order of Buffalo working on the files. They dont make a difference where you are from. And if you look at the Buffalo PNP cases they all received the PPR within 6 weeks after the medical. That seems to be the approximate timeline / the same in Berlin. If the PRR takes longer in some cases they might have asked for a second set of exams or asked for another doctors note or whatever. You never know... in generally I think you can plan with 6 weeks.

Everything will turn out well! I was soooo stressed out and afterall it was all for nothing. I shouldnt have worried so much and enjoyed life more! Well... but we always say that after everything is done, right?! :o)

all the best!

Hi Brigit,

Ya..It seems like one will receive the PPR request within 6 to 8 weeks of submitting the medicals...I did my medicals last week even though I did not get any AOR and Medicals...I hope that i receive them within next 3 to 4 weeks...Even the bond of staying with the employer does not complement well.....

Yes you are right...I think every thing will turn out well....We just need to sit back and relax and enjoy the life more....Seriously, with these things hovering around you, one cannot really enjoy the life and be relaxed...I guess most of us watch this site almost 10 times a day if not more....But you know as you say, it is easy to say after everything is done...:)) ....And also we say this when everything is done....:))

I guess you will probably do the landing by the end of August....What do you plan...? Land at Buffalo or complete the landing inside Canada at local CIC office...? Either ways, I am sure that you must be throwing a big party for yourself ...After all, you have gone through all the hassles with two applications....

Be in touch Brigit.....Take care..

Hi Calvincc,

there are two different ways to get your PR through Ontario PNP. One if you have a bachlore or master degree and the other one is if you have a PHD.
if you have bachlore or master then you have to have a full time permanent job offer. if you have a PHD then you can apply without any job offer. I had a bachlore degree at the time I applied and I had a full time job offer in kitchener Onatrio(close to toronto). I got mine withine 9 months .. very smooth and simple..
you can go to this website and find out more about Ontario PNP program.
http://www.ontarioimmigration.ca/en/pnp/index.htm

I hope this helpe

I got my degree form a university in Ontario and posted my resume online on workoolise.ca and then my employer actualy called me !!
the job offer doesn't have to be in toronto. you can read all the details on this in PNP website. I think you need to have your degree from specific universities and it should be recent. I am not sure, you can read thoes online

Good luck
