hello, Does the letter of acknowledgment states they started processing your file or just that they cash ur fees and gives your file #?
Posted by ousepe
06 Jun 2010 #2
Both. There's a receipt for the app charge and file number. The letter only states that they have started processing.

Hi ouesepe! I have a couple of questions. Are you already in Quebec or are you currently in the US? Have already been interviewed or did you receive an interview waiver? Thanks!

I'm in US. Haven't heard anything about the interview yet, holiday season is slow everywhere. Reckon it might stay like this till mid-late Jan.

we sent our app ( me and my wife ) in first week of oct, but have not recieved anything yet ( no file number yet ). and our CC has not been charged either.
how long does it take to get the file number?

My cc was charged in ~2 months, and I got the file number and acknowledgment 2 weeks after that. But they seem to have come to a grinding halt around the holidays. Hope it picks up in Jan.
Best,

I'm terrible with details. The interviewer was a very patient and friendly lady. She spoke mostly in French, and switched to English when I had trouble understanding. It took all of 30-35 mins I think. I would suggest you learn the scope of and major companies in Quebec in your line of work, and major companies and industries QC is known for in general. Other questions were -- What steps I was taking to improve my French; Why did I want to move/ against continuing my US process; Where and when did I learn French (I had 2 years ago for a vacation in Paris, but I can't speak it very well, although I'm able to understand it well enough to be functional); Job prospects; How I was planning to pay for my initial few months; Where will I stay; My monthly expenditure plan; And many others I can't quite remember, but the general theme is learn French, learn about QC, and your line of work in the Province. Reading about recent news and events help you make casual and informed discussions. I watch RDI live, and it has helped me get accustomed to French with the Quebec inflection, and get a window on local news and culture. I find I'm able to understand way more every month.

Hi Ousepe, Cograts for being so far and best of luck towards the rest of the process. How is your federal application going on? I am an Indian citizen currently working in USA and applied for CSQ on 21 Jul 2011, no update received yet. Infact, it is my wife, who is a registered nurse, applied for CSQ. Recently I read from Quebec official website that petitions with job offer or special job categories gets priority processing by default. May I know whether CSQ assess only french certifications or plain french understanding ability towards assesing french knowledge of the candidate. I am little confused since consultancies say french is not mandatory but nice to have.I have applied for CSQ on my own.

@rajeshantony, sorry just saw your comment. I don't have a french certification, although my interview was 80% in French. Know enough to understand questions and respond in simple sentences. Learn about Quebec and your industry in Quebec. A job offer would definitely speed up your app.

Hi Ousepe
in which category you applied for CSQ. it looks like it took 8 months to get your CSQ, but you got medical request very quick. in my case I got my CSQ with in 5 months and I applied for federal and it has been 5 months and no news from them. my VFO is also Buffallo.

do you know any reason for that?

I applied in the permanent worker category. I applied for my CSQ in March of 2010 and received it on June of 2011 - that's nearly 14 months! Federal is moving faster. I got my AOR/ Medicals Request in 5 months. I guess you should be due to get your AOR soon..

Hi Ousepe

I was wondering how you received passport request? by regular mail or email??
Did they ask you for interview in buffalo???

Congratulations

Hehe. I'm pretty sure I have received it. It is an e-mail from Buffalo asking for my passport. I don't think PPR dates follow as linear a timeline from the date of submission as one might imagine. If I were to venture a guess, PPR dates seem like the cumulative result of the peculiarities of each case with regards to the number of applicants (single/family) per application, case load of the office processing the request, field of occupation, medical results, security clearances among other things.

There's no interview required. I'm a CSQ candidate. I don't think PNP/CSQ applicants are required for an interview past the nomination stage.

I was advised in the initial AOR email not to inquire about the case unless CIC sends a request, which is exactly what I did. A lot of people become impatient and start firing off emails and calls, which might be counter-productive. Although I do wish there was a more reliable individual processing schedule than the overall umbrella processing time for all cases. That date seems to be off by +/- 2 to 5 months depending on a case.

Anyway, best of luck with your process!

hi Ouseppe, my CSQ interview is scheduled to be in coming march. Would be great if you can clear some air. I don't know french and now trying online learning.

The invitation letter says the kids not needed to attend. Do they still allow entry for the kids since I and my spouse are invited for the interview?
How long does it take for the CSQ to arrive after the interview - any milestone exists between interview and obtaining CSQ?

Learn as much conversational French as you can. Needless to say the more fluent you are, the more points you get for it. My interview was 80-85% in French. If you are in an in-demand field, you could theoretically get away with minimal French for the interview, but if you have to learn it eventually, now would be the time to start.

Not sure about the kids issue, I guess they might let you all in as family for the interview. But then, and even otherwise, you should be prepared to answer questions on how you are planning to get your children assimilated into a French speaking province - schooling etc.

If you are successful, the officer will print out the nomination at the end of the interview and hand it to you. Best of luck!

canadianmario,

I'm copying the PPR email I received as is:
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Processing of your application for permanent residence in Canada is almost complete.

Please submit your passport(s) within the next 30 days. The issuance of your visa(s) is time sensitive so it is important for you to submit your passport(s) as requested. Please note, though your passport(s) is/are due at our office within the next 30 days, you must check your documents upon receipt. There will be a validity date indicated, and the landing must take place on or before that date. The visas cannot be extended. If you are not prepared to live permanently in Canada immediately after landing, please consult the website regarding residency requirements in order to ensure that you retain your status in Canada.

We require two (2) recent photographs of yourself and each accompanying family
member.

Right of Permanent Residence Fee (RPRF)

Every principal applicant and his/her accompanying spouse/common law partner is required to pay a Right of Permanent Residence Fee (RPRF) in the amount of $490 CAD or $490. USD. The RPRF must be submitted in the form of a money order, certified cheque or bank draft payable to the “Canadian Consulate General”. I don't think submitting the RPRFee before they request it expedites the case in anyway, but I'm not the best person to advise on that. I took the money order with me along with the rest of the documents as requested and got everything done in 2 hours.

Cheers,
