You can extend the driving licence based on the extension document, go to nearest dmv

You mean receipt notice? DMV official at my local dmv said they need approval letter. They cannot extend based on receipt notice.

If you got your driving license extended, can you tell me which DMV did you visit? I will see if I can go there.

That depends on the state , check the dmv site,, and go there and ask them for renew .. its a normal procedure they will extend that for 3 months not more than that

I am sorry to hear that, I think that depends on the state govt. they don't leave any options for us

Yes, I do not understand why California does not extend driving license for 6 months, when federal government allows us to work and stay in US for 6 months without approval letter... It is just plain stupid.

go with original extension receipt notice + passport + latest I94 + old license + a debit card
they should give 240 days from your date of extension application.

DMV will create a ticket in SAVE system http://www.uscis.gov/save
Also I noticed that if the ball is your court the SAVE system replies negatively. if the ball is in their court, they will nod positive to DMV.

of course , you have try different DMVs locations.

Me and my friend who is in similar situation have visited 5 different local DMV offices (in bay area, California). We have reached to DMV Sacramento. We also talked over the phone with DMV legal team. All of them said that they cannot help. They said that SAVE system can be used only to verify documents. They cannot initiate request for person and verify their status.

Do you OR anyone you know have recent experience of getting Driving license extended in California DMV based on receipt notice? If yes, Can you share experience in details ( eg. how you approached DMV, which DMV you went , are these rules anywhere on DMV website etc )
