i saw this message on the USCIS website :
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic and other factors, USCIS is experiencing delays in issuing receipt notices for some applications and petitions filed at a USCIS lockbox facility. For more information, see the USCIS Lockbox Updates web alert.
They have mentioned some steps here to reduce the processing time : https://www.uscis.gov/news/alerts/uscis-lockbox-updates
I believe these were the texts you were referring to. i can only hope you get it on time. Maybe they will expedite processing these cases.
I actually have applied late, as i misread the general instructions on one of my previous receipts and assumed that i would get the automatic 180 day extension. This is the only time i tried to do this renewal on my own, and really messed up my timeline. I should have sent my application in May as my EAD will expire first week of Nov. Eventually, i went with an attorney.
Long story short, i am mentally prepared to lose my job and am making preparations to transfer my work responsibilities to others. I did find that USCIS takes about 1 year to process such cases, so it's a game of waiting now.
i hope things turn out for the better for you, good luck.
