She gave us the paper with the box checked:no additional info needed bla bla bla...
However I asked if she can stamp my passport and she said they no longer does that because the card arrives so quickly it's not necessary. But she verbally said I'll get it in the mail within 1week 2 weeks at the most. Once we left the interview, a couple hours later, I got the email from uscis stating on sep 23 we ordered production of your new card bla bla bla .....I checked my portal and it said the same thing too.

Thanks for sharing. I got the same paper. My IO told me that I should get GC in like 2 weeks etc. He said my GC start date will be the date he updated the system (which he will be in a few days)
But it has been 11 days since my interview, no updates have ever happened. waiting sucks. The interview went well, but now I dont know anymore. I saw some posts on the internet, their interview went ok, IO told them they should expect GC soon, but instead they got a letter asking for a 2nd interview........

Well if the website does not show the update for the card ordered/production I guess that might be a sign that you wasn't approved yet, but hang in there, it will soon but I not an expert I can only share our experience. And for us we got the update * card/document production* within 2 hrs after the interview was done.

INTERVIEW DETAILS!!!!
Ok guys, I just want to say to my fellow gay family here, PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE relax and stop stressing (at least worry a little less), in the end you are gonna look back like I am currently, and realize its not that difficult of a process or such a stressful and big of a deal for the interview. (I PERSONALLY THINK THE HARDEST PART WAS NOT KNOWING and the UNCERTAINITY we lived, PRIOR TO DOMA BEING STRUCK DOWN, if you got through those years together, this is like a cake walk!) As long as you are not in no sham marriage etc, you will be fine,( DONT WORRY GUYS) especially if you have been together a long time like most of us gays! HERE IS OUR TIME LINE for our Interview

Our Interview was at 11-15am, (eleven fifteen, sorry my colon button is not working on my laptop), we got there at 10-50am after going through security etc. So my hubby and I was SHOCKED to see sooo many people waiting in this huge room, we were well dressed, soft shirt, tie, etc, but I guess not every one thinks you need to be dressed up.. (I know im SHADY, BUT its TRUE!!! some people were looking as if they came from a night of drinking and every one was there for adjustment of status, because an IO combed the ENTIRE room asking!!!)...
We waited until 12-45PM and finally we were called (2hrs total wait). The couple next to us had been waiting since 8-30am and the wife was pissed!!(they got called 10mins before us) While we were sitting there we were people watching and IO watching, I was hoping to get one of the sweet looking female IO, some looked really mean and bitchy to us, (I personally feel more comfortable with females than straight males) so that was our running joke to pass the time. By this time all my nerves were gone and it just seemed like a hoop to jump through.
luckily, we got this young African American IO, she was about our age (late 20s early 30s) I don't remember her name, but we followed here through a maze of different rooms and hallways to he

hallways to her small office. I was making a few jokes while we walked, since I got excited to get one of the officers I wanted, she said before we sit, let me swear you guys in, and we sat. she asked for DL and passports, we sat our passport and dl etc on the table and she only took my hubby DL and my Passport. (she never looked at my expired passport with visa in it or my DL). My EAD was inside my passport and it fell to the table when she opened up my passport, she didn't even look at it really and gave it back to me, with my old expired passport and said she didn't need it.
NEXT, she said to me *you re really excited/happy with that big smile on your face, and I said *I am really excited, we waited so many years for this moment and its finally here, she asked my husband are you excited? he said yes I am, he (meaning me) is usually the more expressive and outgoing one, im more laid back but im really excited to!
The questions were really easy, like whats my husband name and D.0.B. same questions for my hubby, when and how we met, I went on to tell that story (we met online from back in 2005) and my usually quiet hubby sprung to talking, he actually was more chatty and cracked a few jokes about us being there all day when I get goin on a story.I was brief with the answer and hubby helped me a bit since I mixed up the order a little about our first date etc . she asked me where, when and how long my hubby worked at his job before and since we first met , same questions for my hubby about me.(I did not work back then)
my hubby said I was in college now and my criminal justice major, and she asked me what I wanted to be. I told her , I also said I was finally pursuing my dreams after waiting for so many years I wasn't sure it would be possible etc etc (ALL ALONG SHE WAS BUSY WRITING AND CHECKING OFF DIFFERENT BOXES ETC, in my huge file, WHILE WE SPOKE) .
She then asked if we took any trips together looking at me, and my mind totally went blank for some r

reason, (I wasn't sure if she was referring to since we were married or since we were together) so my hubby jumped in to answer and I reached down to our briefcase to get all the pics from since 05 and wedding album, at the same time the IO unstapled my 1-94 from my passport and said I didn't need it anymore, she is keeping it. She looked over our pics briefly, and a funny thing happened while looking at the pics. Her phone rang, and she started talking about some text message and food etc and kinda got all unprofessional/like a regular person, on the phone. She paused for a sec, then said to us, sorry guys its my son, and continued briefly on the call, then told the son she had to go, she is in the middle of an interview.
We all laughed after she got off the phone and continued. The IO then said she needed to keep some pics to put in our file and I said to keep the one with the wedding photos (each sheet we had, has 4 pics on it) and she said that one is boring/plain/regular I want one thats better/memorable, and I said have at it, she took the one with us rafting and me being silly with a wooden statue boobs.
At this point she asked if we had any additional proofs of joint doc, and I took out my other folder, and said I brought everything but the kitchen sink. she said l like that, you guys are prepared. I read the list I made of extras and updated proofs I had and she only took the most recent two months joint bank account statements and the photocopy of our medical insurance cards that I brought but did not originally submitted, since it was back in june when we submitted everything.( she never asked to see our marriage license or any original documents that we submitted) nor did she want all the other proofs, she said she had way more than enough stuff already.
She then asked me some of the questions in the I-485 and to confirm my mothers full name.
At this point she said thats it guys youre all set. Then she said *see, its not that bad, all those

all those horror stories you hear and read about online, its not true*, I was like, is that it?, ( all this happened in bout 5-7mins) she said that's it, and gave us a paper with the box checked no additional documents needed bla bla bla. She then said I would get the card in about 1-2weeks tops and asked if we had any questions, I asked politely if I can get my passport stamped and she said that they no longer do that since Im gonna get the green card within about a week or two at the most, its not necessary. In the past it took much longer to get your green card. etc...* We said thanks and she escorted us out.
About a couple hours later we got an email from USCIS stating on September 23 2013 we ordered production of your new card, bla bla bla, I checked my portal and it was in the card/document production stage (last stage) and said the same thing the email stated. funny thing is, the I-130 status is still in the initial review stage and has not been updated since july first, but I dont care any more, my I-485 is whats important and im approved!! also I didn't have to give back my EAD.
So that's our story guys, I kinda wish it was a bit more longer personally because my hubby and I have history here after all these years and also since we spent so many time preparing and stuff, but like my hubby said, short interviews are good especially in a situation like this and that we already submitted all the documents initially and we been together so long, so all those extras were not needed, nor were the photocopies and originals that we had with us.

Any questions feel free to ask. good luck guys and trust me you will do just fine, no need to be soo worried!!!!! IM GREEN

Hi july1st2013, i have a question, did your status ever switched back to card/document production before the shipped the gc?

joeblack36
Yes my status switched back to card/document production on sep 26th, on the 27th it said that they shipped the card. My timeline after the interview is as follows<
23RD SEP Interview day.11-15am. 2hrs later switched to card/document production (PORTAL said we ordered production of your new card etc. last stage.)
24th SEP, I-130 approved and I-485 switched back a step to Decision (this is when it said we mailed you a notice that we had registered new permanent stat)
26th SEP. switched back to card/document production (it said we ordered production of your new card, please allow 30 days bla, bla, bla)
27th Sep. Stayed on card/doc production (however updated to say that they mailed the card directly to my address etc etc)

SO THATS OUR TIMELINE! Does this answer your question and give you a better timeline?

So, we all get these emails that are bewildering after we get the notice of approval and then card production, and then some strange emails that look like your status is regressing. Then you get a repeat of the card is now in production five days later. But all of that is irrelevant.

So, for others, the most important notices are that you are approved and that the card is in production (which you will probably get on the same day).
Then you will get another note five days later (or thereabouts that your card is in production). Then the next day I received a note/update that the card was being mailed. The I received the card 2 days later. So, in all, from the date of the update that we had been approved, the process was 8 days long.
