Hi nepbuda! I asked my congressman (NewYork City) for help and after I sent the assistance request, it took merely 2 hours before one of his aides called me!!! To be perfectly honest, I am in a same-sex marriage and I implied in my message that I suspected the case took so long because the Immigration Officer might be biased against gay people. Knowing that my Congressman is a Democrat and an active LGBT rights defender (he voted to repeal the Don't Ask Don't Tell, the DOMA etc...), this would catch his attention. I am not sure it has anything to do with sexual orientation, but everything is good to catch the attention.
The Congressmen have a special e-mail address with each USCIS Service Centers (a special "liaison" agent). My Congressman's aide wrote and forwarded me the e-mails so I know the e-mail address. It took the TSC 4 weeks to reply, the agent (I still have her name, full address, phone number and e-mail since the aide always forwarded to me the emails) said our cases were still pending review and also asked for some additional info, for which the aide provided right away and suddenly 1 week later, everything was clear and my husband and I were approved. Now, to be frank, I don't know if our cases were adjudicated because of the regular processing times or if the fact that Congressman made an inquiry helped...
Please don't be desperate and impatient (I know it is harder to say than to do, and I was myself super nervous lately), but TSC is swamped... It takes time. I was already considering asking my lawyer to file a writ for mandamus, open a case with the Ombdusman but my lawyer told me to chill out... In the worst case, you can always ask your case to be transferred to a local USCIS Office for process there and it is easier.
But once again, unless you have been waiting for 2 years, 10 months is nothing. My colleague who filed his I-485 3 months after me got approved 2 months before me... sometimes your case fell on the desk of a very slow officer
