was your I-140 approved on 26 Dec 2013 as opposed to 26 Dec 2014?

Yep, my husband is from India and our dumba** lawyer didn't tell us about cross chargeability, so we filed I-140 and got my husband's H1 extension. Later on I read online and my husband confronted the lawyer and we finally filed I-485. In fact we should have had our GC last year :(

SpanielLover --
Those are not bad RFE's. I'd take those RFE's any day instead of waiting. You will get "greened" soon with in few weeks. Good Luck!!!!!

All I can say is I opened an SR for both me and my husband 30 days into RFERR, they received the SR on Monday and closed on Tuesday. Half an hour after the SR response, which was generic, We got the transfer status update. Yet to receive the transfer mail! My advise is be patient for 60 days because we don't know how they handle things and whether the SR came across as pushy and made them transfer the case. But based on the tracker, this particular officer takes his/her time in handling cases.

What exactly did the transfer status update say? Can you copy paste the details? Where is it being transferred from? Strange to transfer the case at this time. Our status is in RFERR still 6/5. Officer 0264

medhz:

I know, it's brutal. Here is the email:

Application Type: I485, APPLICATION TO REGISTER PERMANENT RESIDENCE OR TO ADJUST STATUS

Your Case Status: Initial Review

On June 30, 2015, we transferred your Form I485, APPLICATION TO REGISTER PERMANENT RESIDENCE OR TO ADJUST STATUS, Receipt Number LIN1491078281, to another USCIS office. That office now has jurisdiction over your case. We sent you a notice that explains why we moved your case. Please follow the instructions in the notice. If you do not receive your notice by July 30, 2015, please go to www.uscis.gov/e-request to request a copy of the notice. If you move, go to www.uscis.gov/addresschange to give us your new mailing address.

During this step, USCIS initiates the background checks of the applicant/petitioner and identifies issues that may need to be addressed either during an interview or by asking the applicant/petitioner to submit additional information or documentation. USCIS reviews the applicant's/petitioner's criminal history, determines if there are national security concerns that need to be addressed, and reviews the application/petition for fraud indicators. If you have filed an I-485, I-589, I-751, N-400, I-90, I-821, I-131 or I-765, you can expect to receive an appointment notice to appear at an Application Support Center to have your fingerprints and/or photographs taken. The timing of your appointment is determined by the number of applicants ahead of you that also need a biometric appointment. We try to schedule biometric appointments as quickly as possible and in most cases you will receive your appointment notice within 30 days of submitting your application. We will send your appointment notice approximately 14 days ahead of your scheduled appointment. It is important that you keep this appointment. If absolutely necessary, you can request that your appointment be rescheduled however, please be aware that rescheduling may delay the processing of your application. Please

@SpanielLover: Did you ever get to know why they transferred your case?
Posted by SpanielLover
23 Jul 2015 #20
nope, in the letter it just says another office has jurisdiction over it.

Thats strange..Did you move somewhere resulting in a change of your address? Causing the 485 case to be transferred?

this is just an unlucky situation. It just postpones the case for no good reason and finally it gets back on track after a while.

They usually do this either for workload transfer to TX office or transfer to local office for an interview... so it is one of the two. first one is better than second because it takes less time to get back on track.

Hey SpanielLover, I see that you interviewed at Indianapolis location. Can you give any insight on how the interview was and what kind of questions were you asked? Did they ask for any documentation proof?
