Discuss trnbtr's OPT USCIS Case

Hey any news on your OPT status? I also go to LSU and got my notice on 24 Mar 2014... My work start date is also june 9 and my case has been on initial review since march 20th...

Hey, good to know of someone in the same boat. Still in Initial Review with no updates today May 27, exactly 2 months after the receipt date. My employer said if we need to wait too long, they might offer someone else the position. But there is not much we can do besides staying positive - most of other cases to the Texas center did not take longer than 90 days. Good luck to you, keep me updated as well!

I called international services at lsu today and they pretty much told me that in past years it usually never takes longer than 2 months.... I guess we have bad luck lol.

I guess we do! I just hope that means it won't take much longer. Plus we can "make inquiries" about the case status after 75 days, so I plan to do that if still no news by then (June 12).

do you know if its 75 days after they receive it or after the receipt date?

The USCIS website says "if your case has been pending for more than 75 days" so I'm not sure, but I'd say beginning from the received date is reasonable.

Still in Initial Review.... Calling the 1-800 still doesn't help much, only info I already knew.

Yeah i called today and they asked me if I ever got a biometric test appointment :/ I've never heard of anyone getting that for opt... Hopefully we will hear something this week :/

Hopefully... and I wouldn't worry too much about that biometric thing, I don't think it applies for OPT

I won't worry about it. I got the same response about it but those customer representative doesnt know that opt application wont require biometrics.

Yeah got mine approved today! It went straight to card production... Hopefully you get yours approved today too!

Hey trnbtr! No news yet? Have you tried calling ms Angela at lsu international services?i told here my problem and she told me she would call USCIS to try to speed up the process...but my opt got approved before she was able to call lol. All she told me was that she couldn't call before 80 days. Hope this helps!

@MAHI234: Still Initial Review. I called to put in an Inquiry Service Request Jun 10, no words since then either. I'm really starting to think my application is missing or this is some kind of joke... Not exactly optimistic about my pending job offer right now.

@ijor123: Thanks for the advice. I did email her last week, but no word from her either yet.

and once it gets approved its just the beginning :/ they sent my ead card to lsu and then they are supposed to mail it to me. It said it went out for delivery on monday and it never updated to delivered :/ International services has not received it so I'm scared that maybe it got lost :/

yeah call them and submit an inquiry :/ but ur only on day 83 right? your probably going to get it approved this week

mine updated around noon and 3 days after it was sent by usps and they provided me with the tracking number.

They count from the receipt date, so in my case it starts March 27.

Really?? That is awful! Have you called USCIS to see what they could do about it? USPS had one job...

I did call they said it would take like 30 days... But the tracker went back to initial review... So weird

zephyrwyo: I called the 1-800 number and chose the option to speak to a rep. Then I just told them I wanted to inquire about my case that is outside of normal processing time, then they asked some questions and put in the service request. They also gave me a reference number (starting with T9) and said the office should get back to me by email within 15 or 30 days (and in my case, close to 15 days later, still no word). Hope it'll work out better for you though.

Thank you is good to know I have already 60 days, and is still in initial process! How long did yours stay in initial process?

It stayed in Initial Review up until today. They sent me an email early this morning, saying "your address was changed relating to the I765..." following immediately by another email saying my case is in Card Production. But really between the receipt day and today, I had no substantial info/updates from them - called multiple times but couldn't get any info as far as the progress of the case.

You can call them after 75 days pass to either put in an inquiry or to expedite. Other than that, I really just waited and waited. But processing times are very random, so maybe yours could be done sooner - good luck!
