Yes That is what they are saying. It makes me scare I am not sure if my company is going to wait that long.

Jackinthebox, I think it's better to raise a service request once you hit the 75 day mark. They are flatly refusing all expedite requests but if you are at the 75 day mark and are able to convince the associate about how desperate your situation is, she will raise a request for you. Give it a try.

Any updates??? My status changed to

On August 24, 2014, your Alien Registration Number was changed relating to your I765, APPLICATION FOR EMPLOYMENT AUTHORIZATION. Please check our website at www.uscis.gov for further updates on your case. Please wait until the end of normal processing time before calling customer service at 1-800-375-5283 for live assistance.

Nothing so far. I have made an infopass appointment. Lets see. It is super frustrating. It has been over 90 days and USCIS customer cares service is handled by morons, who have clue. They put in a request for my bio-metric print and did not understand why I do not need them.

OPTguest, your received date was 29th so you've completed your 90 days yesterday. Only Vermont Center has a history of delaying applications past 90 days. Whats surprising is that many applications submitted after yours and mine have already been approved -some even less than 70 days. I was reading the legal requirement today and USCIS is required by law to adjudicate applications with 90 days and all centers except Vermont seem to be able to do that. Most OPT applicants don't require biometrics because when you give your fingerprints everytime you cross the POE. I've also made an INFOPASS appointment but I'm sure they will be of no help. They are the same people as on the phone (Level 2). The difference is that you get to meet someone in person. Since 2006 they have stopped issuing interim EAD cards at the local centers as well. So this is just disappointing. I've been though many immigration systems in other countries but never ever have I had to wait like this !

I agree, I am very frustrated right now. I will let you no when I get back from the infopass appointment. I do not want to set myself to be disappointed. So I will just go and see what happens.

Jackinthebox,

Tomorrow is 90 days for your case. Do you plan to make an appointment with the local office? I am still waiting too. 88 days right now. Did you make a service request after 75 processing day?

Went for my infopass today. They put in an expedite request. I would suggest make an appointment in advance and not wait for the 90 day period as you can always reschedule or cancel it.
I do not know how long will it take now.

OPT guest,

Anything else you bring for the infopass except for your ID and appointment letters? I plan to go there this Friday. Do you try to contact a congressman?

@yueliu30
Please carry your receipt, any other notices issued by USCIS, your I-20s, job offer letters etc. I carried everything with me, like even my passport and I-94.
Good luck. Ask for an ineterim EAD. They calim that they do not issue it anymore, but doesn't hurt to ask. Also ask the timeline for the expedited EAD.

Not to discourage you but this is the letter I received today in mail.
The processing of your case has been delayed. A check of your records establishes that your case is not ready for decision. as the required security checks remain pending.
Until the security checks have been completed we cannot move forward on your case. These security checks are required to be completed on all applicants who apply for the immigration benefits you are seeking. We will make every effort to make a decision on this case as soon as the security checks are complete. If you do not receive a decision or other notice of action from us within 6 months of this letter, please contact the National Customer Service Center.

Hope you have better luck.

@jackinthebox - Have you received no updates regarding your case since the infopass? I read one person's update (being processed at Vermont) that they were granted an interim EAD card after 90 days..have you asked for that?
