Hello, a fellow Boilermaker here!

When you placed an expedite request, did your status change online and say 'your request to expedite is assigned to an officer' or anything on those lines.

I submitted an expedite request on Feb 25th, but I did not receive any request for documents, except for a mail which says the following.

"Your request has been forwarded to the proper department for further review. You should receive a decision or notice of other action shortly."

Hi rustum234, I first recieved - On February 23, 2016, your request to have your case expedited, referral number ..., was assigned to an officer for response.
Then it changed to - On February 25, 2016, we sent a response to your request to have your case expedited, referral number ....
The bad part was I didn't receive their response through e-mail. So I had to call them up to have the response read out to me.
Also, with my limited understanding, I think the message you received indicates that your expedite request may have been accepted and your case should move forward soon.
Good luck!

Hi, @TheSharkey, any update on your case?

Was your expedite request approved? Are you planning on taking congressman's help at all?

Keep us posted. I appreciate it.

Thanks.

So I sent the additional information they asked for expediting my case and they received it on 03/04. So far there is no information regarding my expedite request.

I put in a service request yesterday and got this message today:- USCIS records show your case is in line to be reviewed by an officer. We ask that you allow additional time for this process to take place since we process these cases in the order received. If after 60 days you have not received anything in the mail, please contact the National Customer Service Center (NCSC) at the number provided below.

I did contact my congressman's office yesterday. They said that they can put in an inquiry on or after 03/15 since my i-797c receipt is dated 12/16 (apparently they give it 3 months). They also said that it's likely that USCIS may take a few days beyond the 3 months and sometimes putting in an inquiry delays the process as the case is pulled out of the line. This is the first I have ever heard of such a thing and have no idea what to make of it.

It's pretty vague whats going on. Let me know if you tried to expedite/contact a congressman?

I placed an expedite request on 25th February, and noting happened, after I got the following reply.

"Your request has been forwarded to the proper department for further review. You should receive a decision or notice of other action shortly."

I did approach the local congressman and explained them that I have a financial hardship and provided them with my job offer letter and bank statements and they sent a congressional inquiry to USCIS.
